ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Jimena! (This used to be my personal profile, I now share it with my husband Gato)
I'm Argentinean but have lived all around since the moment I was born.
When I finished school I decided to travel on my own and moved for a year to New Zealand. After that I've lived in Miami and Alaska. I just love living all around.
In 2014, I moved to Chile with my now husband(he is Chilean), but in 2017 we left everything behind to start an amazing Trip Around the World! :)
After a year and a half abroad, this January 2019 we came back to Chile to settle down for a while(sadly LOL)
and we want to start hosting guests to thank all the lovely people that hosted us all around the world!!
I studied English translation, environmental sciences and photography, but I've always worked on the Hospitality and Tourism industry.
He studied economy and was works for a family company.
I'm open minded and easy going. I like to talk and learn new things. Gato is more of a listener and has great sense of humor. We love to cook, and watching lots of movies.
I've always traveled 'cause that's the one thing that makes me happy. Seeing new places, learning from different cultures and meeting new people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
What I love the most about travelling is meeting locals, learning about their culture, what they do, what they eat, how they speak...
Couchsurfing around the world was the most enriching experience. We met amazing people that not only open their home to us, but made sure that we got to see the best of each place that we went to. While couchsurfing you get to see the culture of a place from the inside.
Till now, all of our couchsurfing experiences have been incredible. From my first time doing it alone in Alaska with a guy(we are still in touch) his dad and their dog, to the last and probably the most amazing one, staying the two of us for a whole month with a woman(now a friend) and her mom in their home in Bangladesh.
We hope we can get to live the experience from the other side now, by hosting people from all around the world, teach them about our culture, make them feel home for a while(we know how appreciated it is when being abroad) and helping them in whatever we can.
Couchsurfing is not just about getting a free place to sleep, the idea is to share with each other, learn about different cultures, be polite, respect the house rules, be appreciated. Someone you don'k know is actually opening your home to you, I think that's amazing!!!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: "Into the Wild" It literally changed my life. I was lost back in 2010 and after watching this movie I took a flight to Alaska and spend 6 months there, working at a national park. That's where I got to meet myself, know who I am and what I want for life. Today, I even have a tattoo about this movie. (I then read the book, which is way better than the movie)
Books: "A Brief History of Time", Stephen Hawking
" The Tao of Physics", Fritjof Capra
"Many lives, many masters", Brian Weiss
Music: Aerosmith!!!!!!
Lenny Kravitz, Angus and Julia Stone.. I love music in general!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
*The most amazing thing for me, was camping in Denali National Park, Alaska, with these amazing wildlife all around (grizzly bears, moose, wolves, coyotes) and seeing there the spectacular Northern lights.
*Something amazing we did together was spending more than 2 weeks living on a campervan in Iceland, and also going to Kalinga, in the Philippines, a tribe in the middle of nowhere and get tattooed by Apo Whang Od. (among so many other amazing things we've done all around)
