I love travelling the world, meeting interesting people and learning new things. I enjoy good conversations, tasty food and wine, hiking, cycling (in particular, bicycle touring), motorbike trips, travelling, board games, yoga, learning languages, playing music, singing and dancing. I’m in perpetual triathlon training mode so also do swimming and running (trail running whenever I can). I’m learning to sail and to improve my kayaking skills for more water adventures. Bucket list water-related trips include kayaking through the Grand Canyon and sailing across the Pacific and stopping to visit islands and for diving. I’m also a big fan of road trips, especially in a campervan, but also love being on two wheels on a motorbike and bicycle..

I was born in a small village in South Vietnam, grew up in the UK, had a 2-year stint living in Ho Chi Minh City in 2014, returned to Europe for 1.5 years (where I discovered a love for cycling and bicycle touring in particular) before moving to the Philippines for 3 years for work.

Missing the UK life, I've now moved back to London and looking to settle back here again.

I love meeting new people, particularly those local to wherever I'm travelling, as it's a great way to gain insight into an unknown place.

I've couchsurfed all over the world and have been hosted by some of the most incredible and inspiring people and have been a host myself in Manila and London. It's always been so rewarding.

Interessen

MUSIC - listening to beautiful music, playing the piano, singing and dancing.

TRAVELLING - meeting new people and learning about their lives. I love exploring the world on all manner of transportation that would best fit the terrain. I've done tours on: motorbike, bicycle, sailboat, multi-day kayak trips, multi-day hiking, campervan, car, swimming (exploring between islands and around a lake).

EATING - anything delicious!

LEARNING LANGUAGES - I want to learn more Spanish, improve my French and Chinese, build on my very basic Russian and Italian, learn Hindi...

HEALTH AND FITNESS - I'm usually found in triathlon training mode but am generally a bad swimmer, an OK runner and an avid cyclist. Cycling is my main mode of transport in London and I particularly enjoy cycle touring as a form of visiting great places at a slower pace. I am fascinated by topics of nutrition and organic high welfare food.

THE WATER - I'm drawn more and more to waterscapes whether it be remote mountain lakes or pristine beaches. I'm working on my sailing qualification so I can join more sailing trips around the world and also keen to develop my kayaking skills to explore inland waterways. Hoping to eventually get a packraft!

FARMING, PERMACULTURE AND ALTERNATIVE LIFESTYLE - I'd love to have a farm one day and be self-sustaining, to consume organic produce from my land and learn to make my own products from scratch (household items, soaps, cleaning products, make up etc.).

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Too many to narrow down! A few highlights include:

Cycle from London to Paris on a fold-up Brompton bike; Cycle overnight from London to a beach in Suffolk (200km) over 12 hours, arriving just after sunrise (called the Dunwich Dynamo); Cycling part of the North Coast 500 in the Scottish Highlands over a week; Cycling 260km around the perimeter of London; 3 months cycle touring in Italy and the Balkans (Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia) finishing in Greece.

Motorbiking around North Vietnam on a little Honda Win and then Route 66 in USA with a friend on a huge Indian Vintage.

Buying a minivan in the USA and converting it to a small campervan for a 2 months road trip from California to Florida before selling it.

Moving to the Philippines for an unexpected job (2017) and before that to Vietnam on a whim (2014)

Sitting in the peace and tranquillity of the Golden Temple, Amritsar, India. Eating in their community langar.

Randomly coming across and completing the awesome Tongariro crossing hike in New Zealand after hitching a ride to an unknown destination.

Sleepless through-hiking in the freezing Patagonia terrain (W-trail) while it was approaching winter. Sights were stunning. Girls I met and travelled with amazing.

Driving around the 7 lakes route near Bariloche, Argentina with 2 new friends, while speaking Spanish the whole time. My first in a newly learned foreign language.
