About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meeting new people and make connection with them
Learn everyday
Enjoy every moment I have, make the most of it

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Korea, but it always felt like something was missing from my life. I decided to go to Australia for a year, but I ended up staying there 2 years, plus another year in New Zealand. My experiences during that time changed who I was completely - meeting people from all over the world changed my perspective, and learning about other cultures opened my eyes to all that was in the world. I didn't realize how much I had changed until I had gone back to Korea, and by then I felt like a new person. Before, all I thought about in life was getting a job and getting enough money to survive. Now, I've realized that the most important things are the experiences I have with new people.

I try to see the world as it is, and value people for who they are. I want to experience other people's cultures and see what life really is like from their perspective. I believe in humanity and kindness.

PHILOSOPHY

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness
-Mark Twain

Now or never

Live in the moment

Better to try than regret forever

Travel light (though, I always travel with a heavy backpack...)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because I've met great people through here and I want to meet more people in the world so that I can gain more great experiences.

Also had great experiences in Turkey when I was travelling there.
Most recently have used CS in Thailand and the US, attending meetups and hanging out with new people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Few amazing things:

Hitchhiking Europe to visit friends

Hitchhiking through Turkey for 3 months

Surfing with dolphins in Australia

8 ft wave Surfing in New Zealand (8 ft ain't small when you are in the water)

Skinny dipping at midnight in the Mediterranean sea(Antalya) in Turkey

I went back to Turkey after 7 years for my Turkish friend's wedding
After the wedding, I traveled through Turkey by hitchhiking for 3 months
I became famous among the Turkish travelers and I had an interview from the state news agency in Turkey.

That Turkish friend story below

Back in 2008, I worked with some Turkish people in Korea and one of them, became really good friend of mine.
When he had to leave the country, I promised him that I will visit him one day .
Few years later, I went to Turkey to keep my word.
It was my first time traveling abroad in my life and at that time, I couldn't speak English at all either Turkish. (everyone say I was brave but I think I was just crazy... haha)

But that was the best decision I've ever made.
I still remember all the kindness from people there. a cabin crew, we were talking all night in the plane, the cleaning men who shared me some food at the airport in Doha, Turkish people who helped me to get to my friend's place
and my Turkish family, I lived with them as a part of their family.

All the experiences I've had while I was traveling in Turkey, it was just amazing. that experience made my eyes open and my mind.
simply, my life changed since then.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to learn more about the cultures, languages
There are always things to learn from any people

I can teach you how to read Korean in 15mins! (super easy to learn. you will be able to read Korean in 15 minutes. you can bet coffee for this if you like haha)

Can share my stories, whatever I can share.

I can also help you with making travel plans in Korea. I've been helping foreign friends, travelers time to time and I know some nice places to go and good foods to eat.

I'd like to learn about your culture.

Please don't ask me if I can share my toothbrush and an underwear. I am not going to share these :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

My stories, laugh, can cook something(no quality guarantees though haha), my culture, good time, my positive vibes
