About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Sing, read, travel, understand.

ABOUT ME

Sweet, creative, quick, a bit odd

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind and sensible and give something meaningful to the world. This life is the only chance we get, don't let it slip away!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In CS I have only surfed so far, but I think hospitality exchange is absolutely incredible and I try to pass on my hosts' generosity to the many people I meet in life.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been hosted by about 10 people through the Couchsurfing and Hospitality Club networks over the past seven years, and of course I've surfed many, many more friends' and acquaintances' couches throughout my life, and I have hosted friends as well!

Interests

Constant learning I guess! I learn roles for the stage, surf the web for fascinating info, and always want to see new and beautiful things, or see things I've seen before in a richer and more beautiful way. I guess that's why travel is such a passion!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love books and movies. Here are three of each that profoundly speak to my soul:

The Dispossessed - Ursula K. LeGuin
An Equal Music - Vikram Seth
The Small Rain - Madeleine L'Engle

Das Leben der Anderen
Nirgendwo in Afrika
The Last of the Mohicans

Music: Forget it. Just about all music of any genre is good in its own right, I can listen to just about anything and couldn't possibly single a particular type of music out! Although I guess right now I am partial to Mozart's opera The Marriage of Figaro, since I'm living and breathing it...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have the best job in the world. Almost every time I'm in rehearsal or on the stage I am creating beauty and feel so completely and uniquely human. I don't deserve it but it's wonderful!

As for the amazing things I've seen and done while traveling, there are just too many to single one out. I think of the pure joy of wandering deserted Parisian streets this spring, the peace I felt driving through the wild Black Hills of South Dakota last summer, the thrill of a walk through Berlin's recent history almost a decade ago, the pleasure of playing on a pristine beach in Mombasa, Kenya as a child. The rewards of travel never cease!

Teach, Learn, Share

It's amazing how much experience alone teaches you. I am so much happier at 29 than I was at 19, and in many ways I'm now the person I dreamed of being back then. Experience molded me and showed me the way. I can't wait for the 30s, 40s, 50s, and the rest of my life! What richness they will bring.
