About Me
Hi, I'm Yigit!
I've been co-hosting guests with my flatmate Cem in Kadikoy, İstanbul since April 2019. As of December 2019, we've happily hosted around 30 guests from plenty of countries.
Until now, I've been using Cem's account, but recently decided to begin actively using my account, so that I can steal some of Cem's references.
Check out Cem's profile to see what our guests said about their stay with us: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/corman
I studied in London for 5 years and a year in Edinburgh; travelled to a fair amount of (mostly European) countries; and I look forward to seeing lots of other places. I've got a few diplomas that I'm not sure what to do with. In fact, I recently quit my PhD and my full-time job, so I've got loads of free time which I'm not sure what to do with either :D Currently, I'm working on a location-based social discovery platform named 'teritori'. I'd appreciate if you could go on teritori.co and leave us feedback! Although, note that it's not finished yet, so make your judgement accordingly :D
Regardless of their background etc. etc., I am happy to host and assist travellers. Also, I'm up for road trips and cruising, hiking, museum visits, walks around the city, cooking together and I am open for other suggestions.
A little bit about the neighbourhood and my flat:
Kadikoy is a relaxed place with lots of cafes, bars, shops, cats, cats, cats and green spaces. It's also as pedestrian-friendly as it gets in Istanbul.
My flat is located right next to the Yogurtcu Park; it is 4 mins walking distance from the Marmara Sea as well as the Fenerbahce football club's stadium. On some weekends, the stadium gets full due to Fenerbahce's home games, and it becomes quite interesting to watch the fans from our flat.
Me and Cem have our separate rooms, and we offer our guests 2 comfy sofas, shared kitchen and bathroom. There aren't many rules in our flat, and we feel comfortable as long as our guests feel home.
Last but not least, there is easy access to transportation, including ferry, metro and bus lines).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I see a mission in hosting and meeting travellers. Sharing my space and daily life with travellers is fulfilling for me.
When I meet new people, I meet a new side of me.
For instance, one of my guests tried teaching me a few words of French, and I met the side of me that is an incapable caveman when it comes to the French language...
