About Me

I lived for 20 years in Brazil and have been living in Germany for eleven years. In Berlin I work as a political educator and arts educator. I love to read, to be in contact with nature, to walk, I love to observe people and therefore I enjoy being in the city, where there is a lot to learn with the difference. I practice yoga, I am a regular walker and I eat vegan. I enjoy cooking and meeting with friends.
I enjoy working with the community and at the moment I am developing a project with migrant women that involves a reflection on various relevant topics using graphic arts.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been hearing about the possibility of hosting people at home and being hosted in other places for a long time but I never really thought about Couchsurfing until I met a person who told me how it was so interesting for her and how she had met some special people. I like to travel and meet people, so joining this community seems like a perfect option now, when I bought an Interrail Passport.

Music, Movies, and Books

Brazilian popular music is my favorite, especially names like Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso, but I would have many others to mention. I enjoy world music that is not commercial and as I like to dance, all music that my body responds to.

It is very difficult to cite a movie that I like because there are so many important movies in my life and the same with books, but I'll think about...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Only one?

Well, the first experience that comes to mind happened once while traveling through the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil, in the Serra do Espinhaco. In a very small place, a village, we were looking for a place to eat something vegan, which would not be easy because in the region they eat a lot of meat and dairy products. We arrived at a small restaurant where a beautiful woman, a little older, served us. She was a very simple woman, who served people in a very uncomplicated and caring way. When we explained to her what we wanted, she worried that she had nothing to offer us and she did not want us to leave without eating. She was very special, it wasn't just marketing to feed people, she felt committed to it.
I explained to her that eating vegan was really very simple and asked her to show me what vegetables she had in her kitchen and in her yard. A person who was also in the restaurant showed us that one of the plants she had was the perfect food for vegans, because its leaf was rich in protein. It is called "orapronobis", which has that name because...well, that would be the subject for another story. The important thing here is that the nice lady prepared a feast for us and was very surprised at how simple it was to leave us very happy and satisfied.
At the end she asked me to write in the entry that she also offered vegan food, who knows if someone else would come along who would like to eat like this...

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to learn languages and also to know about the history of places. I can share my knowledge in graphic arts and show someone how to make a linocut, for example.
Every place is like a book, I believe that if there are interlocutors and if you have your senses open, you can learn a lot by putting your feet outside your home.

What I Can Share with Hosts

For the people who receive me I can cook beans à la brasilenha, or Colombian arepas, and talk about my work with migrant women in Berlin, share my reflections on life and politics, advise books and movies. Invite you to take a walk with me around the city, as I like walking very much.
I can teach them printmaking and go with them to art exhibitions.
