ABOUT ME

I like to eat, and I eat (almost) anything. I kinda talk about food more than your average well-adjusted person. Also, sometimes I talk about rum the way some people talk about wine. I must also have a slight sado-masochistic streak, as evidenced by my predilection for hitch-hiking, overland continental travel, grotty hostels (in countries with no couchsurfers) and attempts to find work in conflict (or post-conflict) zones.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

What is the What (Dave Eggers) is the only book that's made me REALLY emotional in recent years.

Warning: I tend to play a song over and over again till I get it out of the system. This may irritate couchsurfers. Recent songs on the repeat list have been: Lovin' It (Little Brother); San Francisco Knights (People Under The Stairs) and Diablo Rojo (Rodrigo y Gabriela).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have: drunk vile home-made sorghum alcohol (araki!) while dancing crazily with Sudanese and Congolese refugees in an Ethiopian refugee camp.
I have: hitchhiked from Guatemala to Panama.
I have not: ever lost my passport! (Edited 8th May 2011 - OK, I have lost my passport. In Nairobi! Argh!)
