About Me

I'm a lover of food and art, so most of the time I will be out and about, exploring the city. My itinerary is usually full of museums and restaurants. I'm in the midst of developing my palate in hopes of becoming a food writer. I'm especially interested in the representation of food in media, especially with the rise of the celebrity chef culture and fusion establishments being ever more present. If you know a good restaurant in the area (or a good concept of it), I would love to have a meal together!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Mostly because I'm broke, spending all my money on food, and nowadays I don't know if Airbnb is legal in certain areas anymore.

For potential guests: just moved into my Brooklyn apartment so won’t be hosting until it’s all set up!

Music, Movies, and Books

Not ashamed of my Harry Potter fan status, also currently reading a lot of books related to food/culinary experiences--working my way through Michael Pollan. Additionally, adore the writings from Ruth Reichl (former NYTimes food critic).

I don't watch movies nowadays, mostly due to Netflix. Surprisingly, watching a lot of comedic pieces (Trevor Noah, Dave Chappelle, Ali Wong, Hasan Minhaj). I love pieces that are visually stunning or have unique cinematography, such as "Chef's Table" (David Gelb has an incredible sense of pacing), BBC's "Sherlock" (the pre-production work for that falling bed), or "Birdman" (no words necessary).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've learned how to mediate in Bali (Indonesia) and received a psycho-spiritual diagnosis from a Balinese healer who actually was a prince, but gave up his right to the throne.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you visit New York City, I will be more than happy to show you around! I know a lot of great restaurants, including vegetarian/vegan options. I'm also a huge fan of jazz music and speakeasies, so can definitely show you around at night.!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A meal! I would love to get to know my hosts over a meal or two, home cooked or in a restaurant, and just get to know each other. Let us break bread together!
