About Me

Hi - Hallo - 你好!

I'm Isabelle, 29 years old, from Germany.

I love to explore new places, get to know other cultures and am greatly interested to try all kinds of new food! :)

I've been to several countries and made many unforgettable experiences - but I realised during my trips that it's not so much about the places you visit, but the people you meet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since I was young my family hosted guests from all over the world for German language exchanges. I'm interested in the dialog between different cultures and believe, that I can learn much more about a country, if I spend time with its people rather than going from one touristic spot to another.

Interests

All kinds of cultural activities (I love museums), cooking, taking a walk, reading.

I've been living in China for about 4 years and am now in Novosibirsk-Akademgorodok working at a German language center. I'd like to get to know the city and its people, make friends and create lasting memories in my time here, before moving to Novosibirsk in October.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm open for all kinds of music and movies, just don't like charts that much and all the typical hollywood movies about apocalypses / love stories / ... with too predictable stories.

Actually, I like to listen to songs that I don't understand (e.g. in Tibetan or Mongolian), cause I find it interesting to only listen to the voices and not get distracted by the meaning. :)

My favourite author is E.T.A Hoffmann - he wrote fascinating fantasy tales more than 200 years ago.

My favourite book is Master and Margarita by Michail Bulgakow.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteering in rural Sichuan!

I went to the mountains and cut a christmas tree for my class. We decorated it, prepared a little christmas market with oranges, sweets and santa hats and had an amazing time. :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Just to name two things: I can teach you how to make German potato salad and share a lot about China & Chinese culture.
