About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To fill my eyes and mind to the brim
ABOUT ME
I love doing any kind of work that helps people, preferably if I can stay active while doing so. I'm all about doing things, interesting or otherwise, it doesn't bother me to be doing something that I have no interest in. I was raised in Northern Canada, thus I have a bit of an edge about me. I dig languages; I could listen to someone speak Italian or Spanish or Russian for hours on end, it's music to my ears. Listening is definitely a strength of mine, I tend to have a quiet demeanor but an explosive personality. I'm rather passionate emotionally, which is a strength and a weakness as well, I don't mind. I can be very intense at times, completely apathetic at others, but I've always got something on my mind on the go. (In the oven.) At some points I wish I were an academic, at others a crash-test dummy. When it comes to new experiences, I'm ready to go absolute. Even if it's something I don't want to do, in the end it's not a big deal. I've been described as pensive and independent, I can agree with that, though I would add exacting and yet meandering at times.
PHILOSOPHY
Do everything you can, wrap your eyes around things. I believe in perspectivism, I think it's important. I also think politics are a bore but important. I think you should only read when you have nothing to write, to think when you have nothing to do, but remain contemplative. I'm kind of an artificial determinist in that I think an infinite number of of actions has an infinite number of reactions and when they line up it's just something that happens. Free will is an illusion due to the infinity of causality. I'm not a religious man, though I think the mind is a powerful thing, maybe even to the point of mysticism or hysteria.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I think couchsurfing is a brilliant idea. Creating a network for humanity to recognize its own generosity is like a gigantic universal pat on the back, but in a good way. I'm just getting started.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've done a bit of surfing in Europe and certainly can't complain. I've only hosted once and it was also a good experience.
Interests
I have many interests, especially the arts, including music, I play the drums primarily, a bit of guitar, and a bit of piano; theatre; writing, prose mostly, though I do a bit of poetry. I dig literature, whether it be prose, poetry, or drama, I'm into philosophy heavy-duty, I love languages and culture, and current affairs. Sociology and social work have a place in my heart as well as I'm extremely interested in people in general. Also, I'm terrible at sports, but I dig them as well. Film is huge. Reading occupies a large portion of my life when I'm inspired.
