About Me

I'm an artist, an avid perceiver, and a compassionate hedonist trying to treat life as a playground.

I studied art history and recently finished many years working as an architectural historian. I’m an experienced cook with a deep passion for food and I generally get along well with everyone.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m a friendly and adaptable person, and couchsurfing always feels like the realest way to travel, the truest way to make some connection with a place. When I travel, my dream is always to meet people, to learn about their lives, and to experience someone’s day-to-day life and home. I love to join in on someone else’s lifestyle for a short time and see how it feels - I often learn so much.

Interests

I love people, oil painting, food history, warm rain, herbs, laughter, cooking, baking, surrealism, sea creatures, swimming, puppet shows, fermentation, tattoos, queer history, dancing, suspension of disbelief, incense, caffeine, performance art, vintage jello molds, and organic shapes; I have varying degrees of skill and knowledge regarding these things.

Recently my hobbies have included brewing kombucha in ever-more complex and interesting flavors and baking cakes from scratch, then decorating them as sculptures.

Now that I’m traveling, I tend to fill my solo time with drawing, going on walks, swimming if possible, and reading.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: I have eclectic taste and some interest in almost all genres. These days I especially love world psychedelic and folk music and jazz

MOVIES: I love movies of all kinds, with a special love for experimental or abstract film and a weakness for great sets and performances

BOOKS: I love literature and poetry. Currently reading Orlando by Virginia Woolf and Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel García Marquez

Teach, Learn, Share

I’d love to share food and experiences with you. I can help teach you written or spoken English. I want to learn about your local culture, food, your language, and you! I’ll be delighted if you can tell me about any obscure local food specialties.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Once we meet, anytime you are looking for a place to stay in the US, you can always message me and even if I’m not home or hosting, I can probably find you a place!

I'm always down to help out around the house and cook with or for you. I’m happy to share stories and company if you're into that as well. I’m a friendly and self-sufficient person who can just as easily entertain myself or spend time socializing with you, depending on your preference. I don’t mind if we don’t speak the same language; I would love to teach each other what we can
