About Me

Well hello there! Thanks for stopping by. Please make yourself comfortable. Cup of tea?

Righto, I suppose I should get down to this whole profile business.

Who am I? Well I could reel off a variety of personality traits such as an easy going disposition, open mindedness and a penchant for fun... but that doesn't really paint much of a picture hey?

So here’s a few random quirks!

I am a collector of knowledge. I constantly seek out that moment of discovery, where a new piece of information creates this shift in the way I see the world. Exhilarating!

A natural offshoot of this hunger for learning is my constant immersion in hobbies. My free time is usually splayed across a whole mishmash set of interests like yoga, guitar, Spanish, drawing, writing, dancing, meditation and capoeira.

Nature is a fundamental cure all for me with my greatest moments of serenity and joy stemming from the depths of canyons, dizzying mountain peaks and the still lushness of the woods.

I am always seeking out adventure in the mundane. Attempting to find the fun hidden away.

I love nourishing my being to thrive. For me this means living a life well balanced with enriching activities - meditation, creative expression, good food, physical activity, learning, connection and a good night's sleep (unless the dawn beckons!).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There's nothing that gives those priceless warm-fuzzy feels like moments shared with others. It's really that simple. I love connecting with others, experiencing a city through their intimate standpoint and hearing their stories, as well as sharing my self in the process.

Interests

One of the most fitting terms for myself would be philomath; a lover of learning. There are few things that don't interest me, as each add another piece to the greater puzzle of knowledge of this reality.

RANDOM SAMPLING OF MY INTERESTS:
Film, concerts and a plethora of music, travel, writing, reading, games of all kinds, skate boarding, nature, camping, back country hikes, psychology, biology, history, space, physics, the nature of reality, spirituality, art and meeting people from all walks of life and sharing fascinating and enlightening discussions.

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS:
A little life, the works of Alan Watts, Shantaram, Shadows on the Path, Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.

MOVIES:
City of God, Fight Club, Boyhood, The Fountain, American Beauty, Waking Life, Shawshank Redemption, The Before Trilogy, the weird worlds of Charlie Kaufman.

MUSIC:
Tame Impala, Local Natives, Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty, Incubus, Cloud Control, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Vampire Weekend, Prodigy, Sigur Ros, Bob Marley, Donovan, Bonobo, Air, Group Love, Xavier Rudd, Ratatat, Queen, Whitney, Odessa and the list goes on and on. I love music from a broad expanse of genres, if it has rich emotional authenticity or a delicious groove, chances are I'll dig it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wondering the streets of foreign countries, making profound connections with absolute strangers in the time it takes for a bus to arrive, which in some parts of the world can actually be an exceptionally long time.

I would say one of the most amazing experiences I've had would be climbing a volcano with an intimate group of new friends. Camping near the summit, with the campfire for warmth, stars for gazing and the neighbouring volcano continuously erupting with dazzling, glowing lava.

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH:
I am the epitome of a "Jack of all trades, master of none" so I could definitely get the ball rolling, then we'd just have to hope for momentum to grab hold and work its magic.

LEARN:
Up for (almost) anything. A passionate teacher creates a captivated pupil. What skills am I super keen to acquire? Espanol por favor, rock climbing, camping/ survivalist know how, guitar jamming, writing, new cooking tricks.

SHARE:
Experiences!

I'm also super keen to get involved in some volunteering during my travels. So if you have any projects or communities you're currently engaged in, I'd love to help out!

What I Can Share with Hosts

One of my greatest joys is sharing my passion and wealth of random knowledge. Whilst staying with hosts I love to connect in ways that are meaningful to them, be that heading out into nature, writing poetry, stargazing or cutting shapes on the D-floor. So I bring my openness to connect and share experiences but also a super easy going attitude to flow with each host's lifestyle. I love to offer a helping hand too!
