I'm a very easy-going and open-minded guy that is interested in just about everything. I may appear shy at first but I'm really a closet extrovert ready to talk about everything and nothing. I love to talk about music, movies, books, and the culinary world. I've lived here for a couple years so I have yet to explore a lot of the city but I'm more than willing to share what I know about it.

I work in a mental health facility outside of Chicago that takes up most of my time, but if I'm around I have no problem showing you around or inviting you to whatever it is I'm up to.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I decided I wanted to be part of this community after I recently moved in with my girlfriend that hosts couchsurfers. I've always loved the idea of travelling and exploring, but I have a feeling this will ensure I don't let those thoughts simply fade away.

I also have my first European trip coming up in October and I hope this helps me meet some interesting and friendly people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Math rock is my favorite but I can get into anything attempting at more than just fame (not that an artist shouldn't be recognized, but it also shouldn't be the only reason). Few bands I love(d): TTNG, AJJ, Interpol, Toe, Beirut, The Strokes, Neva Dinova, Arctic Monkeys, Brontide, Muse, Cursive, The Killers, Oberhofer, Mylets, Radiohead, BadBadNotGood, Fall of Troy, Arcade Fire, and many many more.

Movies: I watch too many, but movies with beautiful cinematography will always do it for me. Few favorites that come to mind: Children of Men, 20th Century Women, Frank, Eternal Sunshine, Looper, Inglorious Basterds, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Whiplash, V/H/S, Ex Machina, Scott Pilgrim, and Little Miss Sunshine.

Books: I collect more books than what I'm able to read in the hopes that one day I will be able to finish them all. Few authors that come to mind: Antoine de Saint-Exupery, Ginsberg, Camus, Huxley, Ekman, Pirsig, Ovid, Watts, Palahniuk, Salinger, and once again many more.

Teach, Learn, Share

As for me, I have a couple main interests that I love to share/teach/learn more about:

I'm very interested in the culinary world, and while I'm just an amateur cook, I can share what I know from my Mexican background. I will always be down to learn a new recipe or help you cook up a meal. I still have a lot to learn so please share what you know!

I've also played bass/guitar for a few years now and while I'm still really bad at it, I would love to play some music if you play anything. I also love to learn new instruments, even though I may not be able to afford them.
