CURRENT MISSION

To study and teach the fine Art and Science of Yoga, to keep myself well so that I can be useful to the world, to dance and sing and to meet or become re-aquainted with the love of my life.

ABOUT ME

Started out life in Montevideo, Uruguay and wish I had stayed there. Parents' career was Foreign Service, so went all over the world. Now feeling a bit stuck in Manhattan, KS, but like to travel. I Tango. If you love Tango, please, please contact me if you are in the area or visiting! I am single and have been for 20 years. I love to be with people, and I'm usually a small group person, but being single has worked well for me.

PHILOSOPHY

Early to bed, and (unless there's Tango happening) early to rise. Be your true self and be true to yourself. Love begins with me. When I feel good about how I'm living my life, I can enjoy myself and others all the more. The world is very beautiful in so many ways, and we are only here for a short time. So I prefer staying strong and healthy (which is work!) so as to make the most of enjoying this life. Latest project (well, one of them)- make more eye contact.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Because I love people and I love to travel!

I have a small space in Manhattan, KS and it is not usually possible for folks to stay over because of all the yoga classes that go on there. Occasionally there will be a time when I can accept someone for a day or two. The sofa is about 200 years old and I have been trying to sell it. I do not recommend it for sleeping. I do have an air mattress and a couple of other sleeping surfaces, though.
I am hoping to find someone in L.A., NM and also in WV who will be able to put me up. I will teach a private yoga class for you and/or a vedic chant class if you want.
When I am home, I am usually very busy. I can plan on a night out now and then, but during the days, only lunches usually. I have only a minimal kitchen, but a good size fridge for storing any food you get. Sorry, no laundry facilities in the apartment. There is a nearby laundromat you can use. If you are here on a Sunday you are welcome to come to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship where I go, and also out to lunch with our "crowd". You must know that my place is VERy small, and there is not much privacy. So we will have to work it out and respect each others' needs as much as possible. There are many lovely shops and a great art gallery very close to the apartment.

Tango, Tango, Tango. Chanting Vedas, Yoga, walking, swimming, sailing, gemstones for healing, biorhythms, eating well. I am certified in herbal and natural healing, too.

Prodigal Summer, Poisonwood Bible and all Barbara Kingsolver. I like the classics, some of them anyway. Classical music, Jazz of many kinds, Blues, some Rap and Hiphop is great and Tango, of course! Dancing is one of my all time great loves. Movies, I used to go to movies as a kid. Musicals were all the rage. Loved Danny Kaye and Fred and Ginger. I like more serious stuff, too. Historic fiction about queens and popes and the like. My tastes are fairly eclectic, but I don't much care for slapstick, well except The Marx Brothers and Monty P.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Saw a full rainbow, end to end that stayed bright and complete for about one hour. Better than two pots of gold!

Raised a daughter without school who just graduated with a degree in computer science from KU. Which is interesting, since I have almost no math aptitude!

Helped hundreds of Yoga students to transform their lives. They did the work though! You can't expect a Yoga teacher to be a fairy godmother! So the credit goes to them, not to me.

Yogis, nature enthusiasts, artists, I teach Vedic Chant and Yoga Sutra, also asanas and how to progress in your practice safely and appropriately for your individual needs. Heart to Heart Yoga or one on one lessons. Patanjali's Yoga Sutra is an oral tradition. We can learn to chant it in Sanskrit, which is the best way, and also to know its teachings to guide our lives which is transformative. Also, The Vedas of ancient India. I have memorized and taught many chants from the oral tradition of the Vedas in the rythmic language of Sanskrit.

Herbal healing and nutritional healing is a field I have studied and applied in my life for many years and which I love to share.

Manhattan is small, but we do have several quite good restaurants and Tap Houses. We now have The Flint Hills Discovery Center, where you can learn about the prairie in air-conditioned comfort, and the Konza walking trail where you can experience the prairie in person and be cooled by the Kansas wind. Tuttle Creek Lake is good for canoeing and kayaking and some swim there. We are getting an IMAX theatre, rumor has it, right next door to my apartment.
