Saludos cordiales, Onno :-)

I understand myself as a dropout from our capitalistic system.
I have chosen a positive way, building a good life for the nature and people around me, and also for myself.
Fighting things is not the right way I think. Also, it's not much fun.
And: I cannot save the world. But I try to make a step forward.

Therefore, I live in a small hut in an absolutely beautiful countryside
and do gardening with some friends and a close community.
Also, I exchange a lot with other people regarding ways to find ecologic and peaceful ways of life
and also how to offer these to other people willing to go this way, too.

It has a lot of value to me to be peaceful, non-dogmatic and have fun and love in live -
so this is not all about being serious all the time ! :-)

Though this stuff has a big focus for me, I love to do sports and play the guitar or sing etc. (see below).

Before all this, I was a passionate music software developer in Hamburg for 8 years.
And before this, I have been living in Frankfurt, Weimar, Berlin, Ruedesheim and Bremen. So I've come around a lot in Germany but not so much in other countries. Yes, 3 month of New Jersey in a Kids Summer Camp as a counselor, visiting New York City and the incredible 6 weeks in South Africa and Mosambique are worth being mentioned here :-)

Regarding to what others tell me (I believe it, too),
I'm rather outgoing, though I became more calm by getting elder :-).
You can have nice discussions with me or just chill...
Some find me very funny, some don't. You'll have to find it out I guess...
I focus on being non-aggressive and letting live.
Letting alone people that want to be let alone
while at the same time care for people, that need it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a traveler and a host, I want to get to know alternative people, lifestyles and communities for exchange
and of course, for fun :-). So we can exchange about our experiences, ideas, and maybe even do some things together some day, no matter if building a smart solar oven, found a community or simply play the guitar :-)

I like new perspectives and I'm interested in other peoples life and in strange cultures in general.
Especially in my current location - far on the countryside in an absolutely beautiful nature - I don't meet a lot of people from other cultures or countries. I miss that a little from my former time in Hamburg.

I love to show people this magical place with its beautiful nature in the hills of the so called Weserbergland
with its old houses in small villages, with many forests and animals around!

Interests

My current main focus is on alternative lifestyle ideas towards a biologic, peaceful and self-sustaining community including gardening, tiny house ideas like solar ovens or grey water use.
I also like to play the guitar and sing or play the sax.
Having a good relaxed lifestyle with relaxation, food, some music, discussions, campfire and garden work with some nice people is my favourite.
I'm a good amateur in several sports, and I'm open minded to get into new sports.
Namely I like Badminton, Tennis, Jogging, Biking, Table Tennis, Canoeing, Ice Hockey, Swimming and last but not least motorcycling (I have a travel machine; Honda Transalp that is comfortable for 2 people).

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - actually anything, but mainly Soul, Funk, Blues, Ska, Reggae & Singer/Songwriter
I usually listen to electronic music when going out only.
Hip Hop, Drum & Base and good chill out may occur also.
I like also a lot of specialities such as Louis Prima, Pink Floyd, Phil Collins, Busta Rhymes, Prodigy, Cat Stevens, Sade, Wyclef Jean's "The Carnival", Kurosh Yagmaiz, 1 Giant Leap, "The Mask" Soundtrack and many many more.

Books:
1984, Brave New World, Neuromancer, Generation X, Die Entdeckung des Himmels, Paul Watzlawick (psychologist), Der Medicus, Art Spiegelman's "Maus" I+II, Non-Fiction books about psychology, philosophy and politics. Actually, this is of course an incomplete and ever changing list with changing preferences

Movies - I have no TV and don't watch a lot of movies anymore. Nevertheless, here are some suggestions:
Die Blumen des Koran (The flowers of Koran ??)
Solino (German)
21 Grams
Delikatessen (French)
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
101 Reykjavik
Matrix
Ice Age

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was on a 1000 year old Finka in the southern Spain mountains last Silvester for two weeks with no clock, work or anything. We were 40 people in the age of 20 to 30 all very different but in freedom, doing middle age like work such as collecting olives, cutting trees, making fire and food and having a sauna and whirlpool party all naked with a full moon, candles in the stone wall enjoying self-brewed beer, self-baked bred and some guitars.

When I was 14, I had my 1st holiday on a northern German isle. After 3 days, all my friends left because they were home sick and the weather was bad. I stayed another 6 weeks with no money and had the time of my life.

Another 'travel of my life' were the 6 weeks in South Africa and Mosambique.
To make you curious... :-)

Teach, Learn, Share

We could do together:
do some work in the shared garden where we grow our vegetables
get some fruits from the trees
prepare food & enjoy it
make a camp fire with some friends
walk through the forests and hills
go to a lake around (a little further)
make music/jam session with my guitars, bongos or saxophone and our voices
visit some friends living in communities or an alternative lifestyle
teach each other in language or music,
do any sport including action sports,
cook, have wine and play some game or discuss or watch a movie. Discuss about philosophy, politics, relationships, "god and the world" (how we use to say in Germany),
having a trip on the motorcycle (its big enough for even two big guys :-P)
visit the near huge historic villages from 1700 to 1900 in Detmold

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't know if I understood this question, but I'm willing to share anything that's possible except my toothbrush ;-).

Countries I’ve Visited
