Overview
About Me
Hi,
My name is Yonatan, and I currently live in Tel Aviv , Israel. I was born on 1985. I'm interested in many things (detailed below), and like hanging out and meeting new people (guess that's kind of an overused phrase but I don't know a better way to put it). I smoke sometimes.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like traveling (surprisingly...), and I like meeting people. I think that it's much more interesting to actually meet people and live with them when I travel, than living in hotels etc. in addition, while I'm stuck in Israel (which is most of the time), the closest I can get to traveling is hosting people from abroad :). I know Israel quite well, so if u are interested in or need some advice with nature, culture, transportation or history of Israel, I'll be able to answer (or at least help u check).
Interests
I really like music of various types (see favorite music ). I like play the piano, as well as some guitar and harmonica and I love to jam with people.
I like hiking and I have done most of the good hikes around Israel.
I like to cook but I've lately started believing in (limited) animal rights so I'm a bit constrained with ingredients.
I studied natural sciences (biology, geology and chemisrty) in order to make some environmental contribution to this world.

Music, Movies, and Books
Regarding music: I like many kinds, from Classical to electronic, jazz, and many kinds of ethnic music, from all around the Mediterranean, and even some classical music (only I'm the one playing, otherwise it might get a bit boring).
With movies I'm a little picky.. I've stopped watching things that are to scary or too violent (sadly refraining from Tarantino, eventhogh his movies are beautiful from all other aspects). This leaves unharmful things like Avatar, Woodie Allen movies, and things like "into the wild".
I like books a lot. I prefer Israeli writers, which might not say much to u, but one foreign book I really enjoyed lately was "shadow of the wind". I also really like all of J.R.R Tolkien's book, even though I didn't like the movies too much (as I was saying, violence is best left for books)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Participated in the MidBurn festival, which is the Israeli version of the Burning Man festival. It was amazing for me to be a part of a (temporary) community of a few thousands of people that genuinely like each other, give each other presents, etc. having a positive approach towards everyone around you is very refreshing...
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you some Hebrew or Arabic of you're interested, and some Israeli cooking (only things I like). As I'm very into languages, I'll be happy to learn from you, especially if you speak a language I already have some vocabulary in, such as Spanish or French. We can also jam together (if you play guitar/harmonica or are carrying your own instrument)
What I Can Share with Hosts
See "teach, learn, share" as it is about the same (except that I don't carry the guitar with me, only the harmonica)
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Greece, India, Israel, Jordan, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United States
