About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn all the languages of the world before I die. To explore all the cultures of the world before I'm too old to appreciate them. To meet people and have experiences that will rock the foundations of my world and leave me floundering... in a good way.

ABOUT ME

It's always very difficult for me to fill these sections out on questionnaires, because there is no one thing that truly defines me.

That being said, I'm a person with very eclectic tastes.

I enjoy rainy days. I love snow. I'm afraid of sharks.
Reading is fun unless it's mandatory. My favourite colour is navy blue. I collect post cards. I like writing in cursive. I'm beast at cross-stitching. I suck at drawing. I fence. I play the piano. I'm usually a very happy person. I hate it when people tell me I'm "adorable".

PHILOSOPHY

So it has been written, so it shall be. Etc, etc, etc.

Do what makes you happy, and don't let anyone tell you what's supposed to make you happy.

Once you've seen what the world has to offer, it's very difficult to be satisfied with staying in one place. More reason to continue traveling!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been couchsurfing since January of last year when I roamed the streets of Europe looking for adventure. Now I'm road tripping across the US and meeting such wonderful people!

I like to think that crossing paths with my hosts and those I am lucky enough to host (few as those have been) enriches all of our lives and gives us a little bit more perspective than we had before.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Incredible, to say the least!

Wine and cheese parties in Marseilles couchsurfers and Erasmus students; fondue and bike riding by night along the trolley tracks with my hosts in Geneva; lasagna, Peter Griffith impersonations, and educational debates about linguistics in Strasbourg; homegrown brussel sprouts and vegan restaurants in Luxembourg; learning the "official" biking rules of the road and navigating Cristiania at night in Copenhagen; and so many good people and memories.

Couchsurfing has thus far been a wonderful experience and I am looking forward to sharing that with my sister next year, and with anyone who needs a place to stay anytime.

Interests

I love traveling (I am a nomad). I love languages (I want to learn at least 20 before I die). I love food. I love new experiences. I love learning about cultures. I love meeting new people. I'm addicted to Pandora. I love flying and anything to do with planes. I love astronomy (not to be confused with astrology). I love economics.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Let me download all of the music off of your ipod. I love almost everything.

Movies:
Haven't seen too many recently, and am trying to get into foreign films, but to name a few good ones we have Inception, Big Fish, Requiem for a Dream, Avatar, Hackers, Goodbye Lenin, Trainspotting; you get the idea.

Books:
I love series, simply because falling in love with the characters is so much easier because you're with them for so much longer. Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings, most anything Gregory McGuire, Gone with the Wind, The Watchmen, Count of Monte Cristo, Ender's Game, The Other Boelyn Girl, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, The Andromeda Strain; more to come.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed to the top of the Eiffel Tower.

I saw the Incan ruins at Machu Picchu.

I caught the sunset at Vatican City on camera.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn to farm. And cook. And speak a myriad of languages. Help me.

I can teach you to play the piano. I can show you DC. I can debate international trade with you.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, Vatican City State, Venezuela

Countries I’ve Lived In
