About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get to know as much as I can, as fast as I can

ABOUT ME

I am a computer engineer working in Queretaro, Mexico. I have 1 year in this city, and I don't know how much time I will be spending here. My friends say I'm the responsible one, so I tend to plan our big trips. I like to solve problems that go from the logic ones you find in magazines, to the more on-the-go ones. I love to travel (as everyone else on this page, I guess :P ) because seeing other cultures different from the one you belong to widens your mind and teaches you things you wouldn't have even thought of. I believe every person has something to share. I also really like to dance salsa. My friends think I dance funny, but I don't really care :P

I love to read, I think a good book makes a great companion for a large trip. But of course, travelling with other people is the best way to do so.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My ex-girlfriend recommended me this page awhile back. I made my profile when traveling through the USA, but never actually used it. I think when someone arrives to a new place, the best way to know it is through the people living there. I believe differences in cultures are very important to understand the world we are living.

Interests

I am really interested in learning. Not a specific topic, but I like taking every chance I get to learn something new. For example, the differences on how people react to the same situation (which is a really interesting phenomenon that happens a lot while traveling, specially in stressful moments) or how people, even in the same country, have different ways of eating food. I strongly believe people around us teach the most significant lessons in the most insignificant ways.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a nerd haha, so I mostly like science fiction movies and books. Among my favorites are the StarWars saga, the Time Machine, Pacific Rim, Tron . I also like movies that make you think (somehow) like Forrest Gump, or Benjamin Button,

In music, Spotify has been my loyal friend. I reccently discovered I really like Trance music, like Above and Beyond, or DeadMau5.

My favorite book so far is 1984 by George Orwell, but I really enjoyed reading the Harry Potter saga.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While traveling through the Huasteca Potosina in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, my cousin, some friends and I went to a waterfall called Cascada de Tamul. After a beautiful trip through the river, we arrived just below the a 30 meter high waterfall, and got to swim underneath it. I though the water falling from the cliff would hurt the back of any people trying to swim under it, but surprisingly, the waterdrops felt like when you are having a shower! Although you couldn't breath easily, it was an amazing experience.

Also, there was this time when I traveled with some friends to Cerro del Quemado, which is a temple of the Huicholes in San Luis Potosi. it is located in one of the highest mounts on the border of the Sierra de Catorce. It is amazing how you can actually see in one side the mountains with the desert-like vegetation, and on the other a huge plain valley. You are so high above the ground, that the clouds are sometimes mistaken with fog. That is the place (for what I remember) where the sun was supposed to be born, according to the Huichol culture.

Teach, Learn, Share

I consider myself good with computers, so I would love to help anyone who is stuck with one of these "infernal machines" (as my uncle likes to call them)
