About Me

I, Yoshie, grew up in Japan and now live in Canmore and Calgary, Alberta, Canada with my life partner, Eric. My regular day job is as an aid worker / support staff for a seniors lodge. I also work part-time as cleaning staff for another company as I enjoy working and cleaning (Eric says way too much :-) On weekends and holidays, I can usually be found hiking/camping in the mountains, paddling on a river/lake, or dancing in a live-music venue.

Eric moved from the Caribbean to Montreal when he was very young and moved to Calgary in 1998. Eric studied science in university (specialized in biology) but quick switched his focus to supply chain management after getting his bachelors degree. Eric semi-retired at age 56 and now enjoys volunteering with the YMCA, being in the outdoors and the gym, and helping others succeed.

We really enjoy motorcycling (Eric in front and Yoshie as a passenger), hiking, paddling and camping. We love to travel so that we can experience different cultures and share experiences with interesting and diverse people.

Both Eric and I routinely host roommates in our homes. We understand the importance of a calm and peaceful home. We also know firsthand how important it is for guests to be very respectful of hosts‘ privacy and possessions. We will naturally take care of your home as well as if it were our own.

Music, Movies, and Books

We enjoy listening and dancing to 80s and 90s music, especially pop rock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved to Canada by myself in my 20's when I didn’t know anybody who lived in Canada.

One of Eric's greatest accomplishments is the raising of his son, Andrew, who is a wonderful human being and living his dream (doing post-doc research in theoretical /high energy physics while being able to travel the world).

Teach, Learn, Share

We love learning about other peoples experiences, cultures, and thoughts.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy preparing quick and healthy meals, being organized and helping others to organize their homes.

Eric enjoys sharing information about supply chain management/sourcing, how to retire early, and how to enjoy motorcycling safely while having a lot of fun.
