Overview
About Me
Hello everyone! My name is Niño (there's a story and a lot of jokes behind that name). I've lived in San Francisco for 5 years and counting, and embark on the occasional adventure to other places. I am happy to make recommendations as to what is fun to do in San Francisco, as well as to make friends in this city of many cultures.
Most recently, I have begun to host a language meetup on Tuesdays. If you are interested in learning languages and/or meeting language learners and internationals in this wonderful city, let me know. Also, if you have any questions about SF, require a host, or would like to meet up, maybe I can help!
My trip to Europe earlier this year was awesome, and I met some cool people there :) Looking forward to my next trip as well.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My life goals include harnessing the power of numbers to tell stories, connecting people, traveling the entire world, and learning as many languages as I can. I'm glad to be part of the community of eager travelers and global citizens on Couchsurfing.
Interests
Mathematics, languages and linguistics, finding the best places to eat, watching movies, attending concerts, curating Spotify playlists, dancing (swing, some salsa, silent disco), meeting new people, Hearthstone (where are my fellow card-slingers at?), and comedy (including bad jokes of all kinds).
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Maroon 5, Justice, Bastille, Madeon, Duck Sauce, classic rock, really anything except death metal and most American country
Movies: Good Will Hunting, The Martian, Ant-Man, Dead Poets Society
Books: Earth Abides, 1984, anything dystopian, Harry Potter, The Edge Chronicles
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I made one of those six-panel memes regarding what people in various occupations do (my version being about mathematicians) and posted it on Facebook a few years back, and it was cool to see it shared about 1000 times after a few weeks.
Teach, Learn, Share
Want to dislike math less or like it more? I may be someone you'd like to talk to about this.
I would like to learn how to play an instrument and another language.
Two lies and a truth (try to guess):
1) I used to be scared of the Mona Lisa as a young child.
2) I placed third in a high-stakes poker tournament in Las Vegas.
3) I use a flip phone.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories about my childhood in the Philippines and Guam, countless jokes, as well as my travel experiences in the United States, Peru, and Europe, as well as travel plans. And maybe the travel bug.
