About Me
CURRENT MISSION
expand and diversify my inner world through exploring the outer--learn, laugh, love & live more--and share as much of this as I can
ABOUT ME
My partner and I live in Denali National Park, Alaska for much of the year, Missoula, Montana for some of the year and we travel the rest. I am spontaneous, independent & honest. I put a lot of energy into just about everything I do. Have raised 2 amazing kids --have had a successful business for 30 years. I'm passionate about traveling--across the globe or down a back-country road... love getting lost in the northern lights of Alaska...prefer Tevas over heels...rural over urban...anything with water! I love cities for their cultural opportunities but need the country to stay grounded. I celebrate diversity and and seek out opportunities for new experiences.
PHILOSOPHY
The energy you create is exactly what you walk forward into.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host when I can, surf when I am traveling and attend CS functions...potlucks, etc. when I am back in Montana.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I started traveling when studying design at the U of Oslo, Norway in 1973--for several years afterward, I met and stayed with an amazing diversity of people from Europe, N. Africa, Turkey, middle East. After a nearly 30 year hiatus, I am now traveling again--am finding old friends and making new ones--places are just geography without connecting to the people who give them meaning.
Interests
I love my kids, Montana's prairies, old growth cedar forests...wild places and big skies.... can't live without music. Also like to garden, ride horses, snorkel, kayak, hike, photograph wildlife, dance, build fires. My passion is traveling and discovering new places, people and their perspectives.

Music, Movies, and Books
3 Cups of Tea, the Great Book of World Heritage Sites, Polar Obsession, John Lee Hooker, Shpongle, Sumatran Cowboys, Doug Olson, Finding Nemo, the Piano, Journals of Lewis & CLark, Edith Piaf... tons more!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
life is amazing--how can you just have one???
raised two truly amazing, creative, brilliant children
participated in the Loy Krathong festival in Chiang Mai, Thailand
grew artichokes in Montana
explored Angkor Wat
sat in an old pickup in the middle of a Montana prairie under a double rainbow during a thunder and lightening storm
photographed polar bears in the Arctic Ocean
Teach, Learn, Share
Most of what I have learned has been by trial and error so I could teach how not to raise kids, or run a business, or build a cabin! I would love to share laughter, gardening, baking. I could help individuals establish graphic identities for their business...but would really love to get away from computer work and get involved on the ground gardening or tending animals!
What I Can Share with Hosts
We are always happy to help with chores, cook meals, feed animals, tend to whatever. But mostly, we can offer hosts our enthusiasm, curiosity and genuine interest in getting to know something of their world and sharing something of ours. My partner and I have traveled much of the world using more resourcefulness than resources. We really look forward to meeting fellow travelers who also love sharing stories and experiences....and advice.
