Overview
About Me
Hey, my name is Younes and I'm from Lyon, France: the city of amazing suspension bridges! 🇫🇷
I'm embarking on a trip to Asia for a few months and would be happy to meet new people along the way.
I am open-minded, friendly, adaptable, and respectful, passionate about discovering the world and, most importantly, meeting the wonderful people who inhabit it. I love sharing moments with people from cultures different from my own. Tolerance and openness are at the core of my values, and I enjoy engaging in both deep and light-hearted conversations.
By profession, I am an optician, and I always strive to bring well-being to others through my work. I have also had the opportunity to be part of humanitarian associations, which allowed me to help people in need and further appreciate the richness of human exchanges.
I have traveled extensively, mainly with a backpack, and explored many countries. However, there are still so many places left to discover! Every trip is a new adventure, and I'm always looking for new horizons.
I travel with my wife, Imane, and our one-year-old baby. We both come from diverse cultural backgrounds—I’m of Algerian origin, and my wife is of Moroccan origin. This mix of cultures enriches us, and we love sharing and learning from others on these topics as well. All three of us love immersing ourselves in different cultures, enjoying the hospitality of locals, and cherishing moments of conviviality.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on Couchsurfing because I believe in the power of sharing and solidarity among travelers. For me, travel is not just about visiting places, but about meeting people, sharing experiences, and learning from one another. Couchsurfing allows me to live authentic moments and create connections with people from all walks of life.
Traveling with my family becomes even more enriching when we have the opportunity to be welcomed by locals. It allows us to share real life moments, exchange stories and traditions, and discover cultures from the inside.
I also can teach you French!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
I have a deep affection for Tuareg music and its unique rhythms, but I am also open to many other musical genres from around the world. I enjoy exploring French music that has marked generations, such as the songs of Charles Aznavour, Édith Piaf, and the compositions of Claude Debussy and Erik Satie. I love discovering new sounds, especially when they tell a strong cultural story.
Movies:
I'm a big fan of adventure films, whether it’s French cinema classics like The Intouchables, Amélie, or La Haine. I also have a passion for international works like The Lord of the Rings or Forrest Gump. I enjoy martial arts films, having grown up watching the iconic works of Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. Recently, I’ve become interested in medical films and series, such as House M.D., which I find both inspiring and educational. I also grew up watching mangas, which I enjoyed a lot as a child.
Books:
I read a wide range of genres, from psychology and personal development to philosophy. I’ve read Fear and Trembling by Amélie Nothomb, which offers a fascinating perspective on cultural differences. I also admire the great classics that France is renowned for, such as Les Misérables by Victor Hugo, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, and the writings of Montaigne. I’m also interested in both Muslim and French philosophy and have explored classics by Freud as well as bestsellers in psychology. For me, reading is a way to reflect, learn, and grow, both intellectually and spiritually.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most memorable experiences of my life was a one-month trek in Morocco, which deeply moved me. During this journey, I walked 2,000 kilometers, passing through coastal cities, the Atlas Mountains, and all the way to the Sahara Desert. But what impacted me the most was the incredible hospitality of the Moroccan people.
At every stage, people came to help me without me even asking for anything. Whether in remote villages or isolated mountains, people would open their doors with great generosity. I was invited to eat, share tea, and even spend the night in their homes. This sincere and spontaneous hospitality left a lasting impression on me, and this trek remains one of the most beautiful human adventures I have ever experienced.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am resourceful and enjoy tinkering and repairing objects. If someone needs help with small repairs or DIY projects, I'm always up for it! In addition to that, I love sharing my language and culture. I can teach French to those who are interested and would be happy to exchange insights about our respective cultures.
In return, I enjoy learning new skills, local tips, or different ways of living. Every exchange is an opportunity for mutual enrichment.
What I Can Share with Hosts
With my hosts, I would love to share enriching discussions about our life experiences and our respective cultures. I can also cook some simple, typically French dishes or other recipes I’ve learned during my travels.
I’m happy to contribute around the house, whether it’s cooking, lending a hand, or simply enjoying good moments together over a meal or a walk. Traveling with a baby makes our exchanges even more special, and we all love discovering people and places together.
