About Me

Just a freckly twenty-something traveling the world, loving life, and living in the moment! Feel free to look me up on Facebook!

In 2015 I quit my job in Chicago and began backpacking around the world. By chronicling my adventures on my travel blog (www.youngandfrecklous.com) I found my passion for storytelling and am currently pursuing writing full-time!

At the moment I'm on a one-year visa living in Europe.

Can't wait to meet you :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm super social, and love meeting new friends who can show me what it is to LIVE in the places I visit.

Also, I'm a writer working on a few passion projects :)

One of the great things about this is that I don't have to give up my nomadic lifestyle -- it's actually the best thing FOR my writing! I'm in constant pursuit of new experiences to inspire a story and new perspectives to inspire a character. Couchsurfing has been an incredible way to find these.

(And to answer your follow up question: I write romantic fiction novels and novellas. Yes, yes, *those* books!)

Interests

Some of my favorite things: Spontaneous jam sessions, hikes through nature, unfamiliar cities, rich red wines, sunny days on the water, chatting over cappuccinos, learning new things, summiting mountains, dancing 'til dawn, savoring new flavors, meeting passionate people, discovering secret spots

Music, Movies, and Books

I think my favorite music changes with what I'm doing -- different sounds for different moods, right?

What I really love is being introduced to NEW sounds and artists.

Movies that make me laugh are the ones I watch over and over again, but the movies that make me sob are the ones I remember.

As a writer, it's impossible for me to choose a favorite book... But I do love a good, old-fashioned love story!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trekked to Mount Everest Base Camp -- The Himalayas are truly awe-inspiring <3

I also celebrated Holi in Jaipur last year. Incredible experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm pretty handy with a DSLR/Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, so I'm happy to share those skills with you.

I also love to cook (my dad's a retired professional chef, so I suppose I've picked up a few things) and would be more than happy to cook for us! I've got a pretty international family (I'm half-Indonesian, and I have family living all over the world), so my recipe book is pretty on point if you're a foodie!

Oh! And I almost always end up writing a short story after a positive Couchsurfing experience -- which is always fun to share with my hosts!
