About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Finding out what I want...really...
ABOUT ME
I have yet to fiend out 'all about me'. However I have had some great times with this 'me' fellow.
PHILOSOPHY
It is quite hard for me to compress all the thoughts and ideas I have, had, or discussed with others into a small textfile. However there are some aspects that are especially important to me.
Tolerance
To me tolerance is one of the most essential principles when dealing with other persons. However if a person is not treated with sufficient tolerance, this in return is something I cannot tolerate. Therefore I have no tolerance at all for any kind of discrimination such as racism, sexism, homophobia, lookism, Speciesism
Animal Rights
To me animalrights and antispeciesism is the logical next step from taking antiracism serious. The descrimination of sentient beeings only becaus they are non-human is not a lesser problem, but as disgusting as discrimination against humans based on herritage/religion/sexual identity
The concept of ownership
I personally dislike the concept of persons or (worse) companies owning things. Especially 'owning' pieces of the planet.
Religious/Spiritual views
I see myself as an agnostic. I don't know whether there is one or several metaphysical being(s), and I don't really care either, aside from interesting thought-experiments. From my point of view everyone may believe in whatever they want and practice their believes in whatever way they like as long as -in doing so - they don't harm or discriminate others.
However I have a certain dislike against institutions that exploit the religious believe of people in order to gain power, are structured hierarchical and discriminate people who have different believes. (e.g. the catholic church, the church of Scientology etc.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been using Couchsurfing for about five years and I gotta say Ive not been too active...but the experiences I've made were all realy great, so just write me and I'll answer =)
Interests
I'm afraid I will not be able to give an exhausting answer to this question, as the field of my interests and potential interest is vast and diverse. However here are some interests I hold especially dear, to give you a clue.
Vegan cooking
I always liked to cook. At the age of 7 I became a vegetarian, at the age of 17 a vegan. Back then this was not as common yet, as it is now. I learned a lot from my hostmother in Houston (where I spent a year), who is a personal chef and a vegan too. Together with some vegan friends I formed a group that would meet from time to time and experiment with new ideas. One thing we enjoy especially is inventing new cream cakes. We are currently working on two cookbooks, one for cakes, tarts and deserts and one for the more hearty food.
political activities
I strongly oppose any kind of discrimination such as racism, sexism, nationalism, homophobia, lookism ...
I am also disgusted by the chauvinistical principals by witch our society operates. The exploitation of people and the planet that happens on a global as well as on a local basis all over earth is the terrible symptom of a society that is under constant pressure through structural violence and knows only one goal: profit and economical growth.
Against this I am active on many levels.
Books, Music, Art
Books are my inspiration as well as my enclave. They are a way to escape into another world, if I feel this one isn't giving me enough space to breathe. They inspire thought experiments and offer insight in different perspectives i hadn't known before.
Music on the other hand is more subtle. Still it something I absolutely need. Music can change or amplify moods and emotions and if employed properly make a real difference.
The first question that always pops up, when talking about art is what art is after all. I personally am rather fond of the approach of Joseph Beuys, that every 'human being' is an artist and accordingly everything one does is art,.
Games, Boardgames, PnP
Being somewhat of a nerd i always loved games. What I didn't like however, was the competitive character of most games. Therefore I am a big fan of cooperative games. That being said and also being a great fan of fictional worlds it is quite natural, that I am rather fond of roleplaygames. This starts with Pen and Paper or tabletop games, extends to board or card games but also covers computer games such as Gothic, Nethack or Myst.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies
There are many movies I value, too many to list. Directors whos films I like are Stanley Kubrik, the Cohen Brothers, Emir Kusturica, Ridley Scott, Terry Gilliam
Music
Again i will not provide a full list of bands or artists and I normally dislike the use of genres as they try to put a piece of art into a box, but I'll try to use those terms in order to give an account of my development as a music-lover.
I started out enjoying JAZZ and old-school ROCK 'N ROLL(Beatles, Stones, ) (aswell as soem FOLK(Bob Dylan, ), as this was the kind of music my parents introduced to me, while I was not at all fond of the music the Radio played in Germany in the early- and mid-90s. Next and along with my social development as a young teenager I moved on to FREEJAZZ, PUNK(The Clash, Libertines and countless others) and a ferocious hate for glamrock. At some point I discoverd REGGAE(Peter Tosh, Bob Marley etc.) and SKA(Tiefenrausch, Marycones). From there I moved back to somewhat more agressive music such as GRUNGE(Nirvana), ALTERNATIVE(The Pixis) and METAL(SOAD, RatM). Somewhere along the Road I had picked up others generes such as political SINGER-SONGWRITER(Funny van Dannen, Georg Kreisler, Früchte des Zorns) or political HIPHOP(Irié Revoltes, keny arkana)

Teach, Learn, Share
I suppose I can 'teach' quite a bit about vegan cooking (vegan cream cakes anyone?), thought I'd rather describe it as a shared activity and just get rid of the teacher/student hirarchy.
I like to learn. Actually I do start something new every week pretty much.
I can share quite a few cool spots in Berlin that are not as easy to reach and are not covered by the usual boring sightseeing tours, but should not be missed.
