About Me

Hi, I'm Youri :) I'll talk about me in English. Et après je parlerais de moi en Français !

I am traveling around the world following several formations in various activities depend of the local culture. I want to discover what looks like our earth and its inhabitants, not from the TV but through my eye.

I did a common High Schhol degree, in industrial science, then went to learn movie making in Lyon, near my small hometown. I learned many aspect of cinema but i felt like I couldn't express myself enough (in an artistic way of saying) without seeing the other part of the world.
I went during a year and a half in a Kung Fu School in north China, under a Shaolin Master who leads a small training school mainly direct to international students. There I met people from all other the world and discover many different cultures, and a lot of the Chinese traditional way of living.
I injured myself at the end of this experience and had to go back home and work, mostly in manufacture and warehouse.
After I began a journey of a year in the Indian subcontinent (India, Sri Lanka, Nepal), originally to practice yoga. (Indeed I was injured with my right hips, through the tough training of China) I traveled between small Ashram and also did lot of volunteering in permaculture farming in south India an Nepal. I loved learn about the work of organic planting and nature, I did a mission in a NGO to protect animals and work in a shelter in a north indian city too.
After this inspirational journey, i went back France and worked in a biological farm and honey making farm.
We are now in my last trip, I joined an French NGO who works with a Senegalese association to help women victims of Gender-Based Violences (GBV) and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) like excision. I lived during 8 months in a Senegal city (Thiès) to help victims and doing sensibilizations to any kind of public. I also gave lessons to young students in all the main subject (French, English, Math, Geographie, etc...).
I am right now applying to different humanitarian missions in West Africa.

I love to discover and be part of the culture in the places I go. I always try to follow the locals in there routine, thanks his way of living I made very important relation all other the world and spreading good vibe and peace I brought with me, through the years. "Adventure might be dangerous, but for sure the routine is deadly"

Music, Movies, and Books

I would like to say that i listen all kind of musics, but even if i like discovering new sound, i am basically a big fan of Rock music, from the 1940's Mississipi Blues to new age Japan Heavy metal. My favorite part of time is the 60's and 70's, mostly through band like Pink Floyd, The Doors, Gainsboug, etc ...
I like electronic music too, much of french touch and others instrumental hip hop, for the party i have a weakness for psytrance beat.

Since very young I have been watching movies, i even studied it. I love watching author movie, or just non mainstream product. I believe that Cinema is an art, and blockbusters, despite the extremely good visual aspect and much money evolve into, do not reflect so much a message or way of mind of an artist. I began to love film with Kubrick, Leone, etc ... I saw countless times Apocalypse Now, The Wall, Korean movies, classic silent films , ...

I try to read the most, even if it is not very easy on the road. i usually read about the culture of the place I go, religion and others. I love Sifi books, from Jule Verne and Wells, to The chinese author Liu Cixin passing by 1984, and also Dune's series. Otherwise I like polar book, fantasy, philosophy, spirituality, I am completing my knowledge into the classic literature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Many things I have done are for me amazing. But lately teaching kids in a poor neighborhood in Senegal was completely heartfull. Learning their language and being in front of so many cultural chocs (In Senegal students whistle to the teacher). But despite all that i had to manage to be the best educator i could be, understand their problems and teach a good way of life with moral and open mindset. Creating playful activity was a great new job for me, i would love to learn more about it. I hope to be able to find some day a volunteering mission similar to this one.

Peace to all my little sisters and brothers there

Teach, Learn, Share

During my travels I learn few interesting skills. I learned Shaolin Kung Fu and Tai Chi Chuan, even with my injury i can continue to practice slowly.
I learn basic steps of Yoga, and different kind of mediation (Qi Gong, Kundalini, Vipassana)
I can be a help for this, i am not a master but as a matter of fact, i practiced it a lot.
I am currently learning African drums, this is my new goal :)

Basically i love talking and sharing knowledge, around a beer once a while, if not a good herbal tea that i carry with me.

I like dreaming about learning everything, language and arts. I don't believe to be an artist, i still need to learn my way to express myself in its fully, maybe you will teach me !

What I Can Share with Hosts

"Quand on veut, on peut" in french, express "When we want, we can". And I want to share everything, i would love to follow you everywhere you want to bring me. Depends of the schedule but i am a easy guest, i don't need much, just having fun and doing things. I would love to tell you all what i learned and what i can explain, giving you class of combat sports, meditation, language (for English or French). We can stay easily at home exchanging and wake up early to sports, or partying all night, haha

I'll follow your mood, life long and everything should be learned.
