About Me

I am an easy going vegetarian born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area currently residing in Portland, OR :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've always been drawn to situations in which you suddenly find yourself in a place you don't really know much about with people you have very little prior knowledge of (I always really wanted to go to boarding school or sleep-away camp as a kid), and I think couch surfing is pretty much that. The experiences I've had so far with couch surfing have been great, and more often than not it has bitten away at a bit of my cynicism (I can be a bit of an iceberg of cynicism at times). I always try to keep myself open to new experiences and meeting new people.

Interests

I love to read, write, cook, go to shows (like concerts), hike, explore, and travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm also an enthusiastic geeker-outer-of-things, i.e. I get way to excited when I find people who like the same things as me. Shared interests leads to bonding, right?

Music
I love lo/fi, punk, garage band, indie, anything with kazoos, angry feminist rap, sad-dad iPod jamz, space rock, dirty rocks, ground rock, geology tunes. all of it. Add some banging trash can lids. Add a chick, like an actual baby chicken, walking over the mic. all about it.
I really like going to shows.
especially in abandoned barns and caves.

Books
I've caught myself really getting into short stories. I usually tend to read more collections by singular authors than anthologies with multiple authors. I just like anything weird, usually dealing with ghosts, really tall houses, strange women, people going on long unprepared for walks, and unsupervised children.
Some of my favorite authors are Shirley Jackson, Kelly Link, Samantha Hunt, Haruki Murakami, A.S. King, Virginia Wolf, Oscar Wilde.

Movies
Drama, dark-comedies, and horror/sci-fi!
