About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Define "CULTURE" and Break the critical period hypothesis (CPH)
- We know who we are only when we know who are not and often only when we know whom we are against. (by Samuel P. Huntington)

Would you clearly define culture?
Probably, you can't.
Me, neither though.

ABOUT ME

I live in Kyoto Japan by myself and am a student majoring applied linguistics, more specifically bilingualism and English corpus in Doshisha University. I literally like to get knowledge about something new; especially foreign cultures and histories, so I've stayed abroad in San Francisco for half a year since Sep. 2015 〜 Feb. 2016.

At first, I used to be curious about English-speaking countries' cultures because many English songs had a big impact on my childhood. But I became interested in any culture throughout the world while spending lots of time and experiencing something new with my host family and other foreign students from Thailand, France, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Switzerland, and Korea. It was so precious time.

Anyway, while staying at my place, let me guide you somewhere in Kyoto if you want.
Tell me something about your countries!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To better know more Japan by knowing, learning or sometimes comparing different cultures. It could sound aparently weird. But there should be something I get to know only by knowing others or comprehending perspectives those who grew up in different environments have.
And yet, to be honest, I don’t like to get ready for travelling; planning itinerary and packing always bother me. So, to host people get me feeling like travelling around the world.

Become smarter without minds hidden assumptions, biases, and prejudices that determine how I perceive reality, what facts I look at, and how I judge their importance and merits. (partially quoted from S. P. Huntington)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in SF, Super Bowl 50 and many related events took place in downtown and Bay Area, San Francisco. Then, I happened to see Joe Montana came as a part of those events and got opportunity to take photo with him.
It was miracle! Yet, because of too much excite, I got him to write his autograph on my shepherd check bag by mistake even though it should have been written on some kind of paper. Now it’s gone.
