About Me
Hi, I'm Yuka. I was born in Tokyo, Japan and currently living in Toronto, Canada. I'm going to the university in Japan but now I'm taking a year off from school and traveling around the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really love to share traveling experience and I also love to communicate with people in English. I've been a member of volunteering organization in Japan for more than 3 years and we have helped so many foreign tourists. Our volunteer is aiming to connect travellers with locals so when I go abroad and become tourist, I want to communicate with locals as well.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite musician is Taylor Swift. I have been to her live concert 2 times and I really loved her country songs. When it comes to movies, I like high school musical. I have visited the school in the state of Utah, US that was actually filmed. I don't really read books but if I read, I like novels.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to Cebu, the Philippines for the internship as a member of NGO when I was 20 and I helped one of the local elementary schools that was in need. I communicated with children and teachers there and had some classes as a Japanese teacher. It was a very nice experience and one of the things that I'm proud of.
Teach, Learn, Share
When I was in Cebu, I was teaching Japanese and some Japanese traditional cultures. I brought some toys and snacks that made kids happy and excited. I also went to Hong Kong to join a research program in my university and I shared the experience with more than 3000 students.
