We share a profile as a couple:

Yuki: I come from a relatively international family (Japanese mother, German father) that has moved a lot from country to country since childhood. Globetrotter to the bone, I fell in love with France in 2007, which has since become my "nationality of the heart", and its truly lovely people.

Sylvain: I've always been interested in languages and cultures from around the world, and after my studies I came to realise how little I knew about...so much. It was time to get out there and explore the world ! So here I am.

We have made it our personal mission to travel as many countries as we can to discover all the riches of foreign cultures and all the beauty nature can offer. We want to make our time on earth as rich, fun and exciting as possible and share it with as many people as possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After graduating in 2016, we went on a 1-year trip. Initially we intended to travel around the globe, but after a hectic 3 months in the US and in Canada, we decided to take our time in South America, to really get to know the culture, the people, the language, the food (!), and so we ended up spending 8 months there.

During our time in North and South America, we had complete strangers extend their hospitality and kindness to us: picking us up when we were hitchhiking, letting us sleep in their homes, inviting us for a meal or simply helping us out when we were in a tight spot. And now that we have more or less settled in New Zealand, we want to give it back!

Yuki: A two-week "scavenger hunt" car rallye across Italy (Tuscany) with my father and a fantastic group of 40-60 year old travelers & adventurers!

Sylvain: A three-week road trip through Europe with my best friends, starting from Amsterdam and going across major European cities!

... and together, a 12-month trip through North & South America!

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't think we're really in a position to "teach" anything. But we'd be more than happy to share our experience and knowledge about the countries we've lived/travelled in and the things we've learned while doing so.

We're happy to learn anything! Languages, cooking, recipes, drinking games, etc. ;-)
