About Me

I'm an easy-going Japanese guy.
I'm working for social justice in a develping country; Vanuatu.
Vanuatu has huge marine resources, however, it's not fully-utilized because people are likely to live off copra and cacao since their parents did. (In terms of economics, high switching barrier:People are sensitive to the relative advantages and disadvantages of any change from the status quo.)
Also, we've noticed that fishermen are likely to overharvest due to lack of scientific data. This causes two bad results; 1 unsustainable fishing. 2.destroying eco-system.
Therefore, I'm trying to solve these problems by running fish markets. First of all, fish markets increase income of fishermen. Second, you can collect data when fishermen sell fish to the markets. Last of all, the markets can tell the marine situation to fishermen and prevent over fishing.
My priority is increasing income of local villagers. Yet, my concern is not only on humanitarian grounds but also on ecological diversity. Also I care about empowering or sex equality, we would like to help women independent by giving a lecture of shell craft. Their products are sold directly to travelers, not through Chinese people.(If you travel to the third world and buy a souvenir, probably it's made in China....)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Lakatoro is very quite and peaceful, I really like my city.
But as someone calls my city " rack city", it is true that my city is super boring at the same time.
Nothing happens here. Same people, same meals...
I hope I can see some strangers. That's why I'm here.
