Always on the move, I have lived in China, Poland, and Malta before I was even a teenager. After completing high school in the DC suburbs, I moved to Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, and Seattle. A few years ago, I was in Ukraine teaching English, before once again returning to the States. Since 2021, I reside in the quiet and peaceful state of Maine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was lucky to have experienced CS in the early days, when members respected the service and its ethos. To this day, many of my closest friends were a result of CS. But as the years went on, I found it less fulfilling and eventually quit altogether after corporate takeover and a mandatory subscription fee was implemented. Me, as well as many of my friends (including ambassadors), left.

I've recently been nostalgic for the glory days, and am entertaining the idea of hosting again... but connecting with a good host/surfer is important to me. Even with the paywall, it hasn't stopped people from assuming they're the main character.
