My name is Yuri. I am a Russian-born, California-raised citizen of the Earth.
Almost 10 years ago I came to the realization that if I am not living in the moment - I am not living at all.

7 years ago I booked a one-way flight to Thailand and have not looked back since. Over the last 7 years, I have traveled extensively around the globe and am still in motion to this day. I have visited about 40 countries - with the list growing larger every year. During my travels, I have lived in Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines, but I have traveled a lot in between these countries around South East Asia, Europe, and more.

I love meeting new people and experiencing their cultures. I am a down-to-earth person and my intentions towards all human beings are pure and genuine. Couchsurfing has been such an incredible resource on my journey, as it has given me the opportunity to meet people in new places to share experiences and learn more about them and their country.

I am currently planning a trip to Iran and then to various parts of Central Asia such as Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. I have not used Couchsurfing in a few years and I want to reconnect with this amazing service.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

I discovered this incredible resource 8 years ago when I moved from California to Portland, Oregon via bicycle. During the 17 day, 1500k journey Couchsurfing provided an opportunity to meet kind and welcoming people and put a roof over my head during a few rainstorms.
I have made new friends, acquaintances and experiences with Couchsurfing and an humbled and grateful to have such an amazing resource so easily available.

Update 2022: After living in the Philippines for the last 2 years (during the peak of the Covid Pandemic), I began a new path as a travel vlogger. I now make videos about various places that I go to and want to share culture, nature, and urban lifestyles on my channel. You can take a look at my work @ Yuri UNCUT on YouTube.

Written in 2017:Music is my biggest passion. Although it is in its preliminary stages watching myself and the music I make evolve is what gives me the most enjoyment out of life.
I am huge on the outdoors. Back home I would go hiking and backpacking frequently; Yosemite National Park is probably my favorite place in the world.
I like to go to a lot of music festivals back home. Aside from making music, experiencing it live is the next best thing.
Going out and getting some food and having a few beers is a simple pleasure I allow myself to have quite often.
Travel....goes without saying.
And always...meeting new and interesting people.
It's honestly probably harder to list things I am not interested in, but those are the essentials.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I rode my bicycle from San Francisco, CA to Portland, OR.
It was a 900 mile journey (1,500 kilometeres) and it was the most incredible experience of my life.
