About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Get to Japan! Get back to London! Explore the world! Live! That sorta jazz...
ABOUT ME
I'm kind and sincere. I'm a bit weird. I'm tall. I'm energetic. I like a drink or three. I really love music. I also really love being outside and using my body. I see myself as an intelligent person afflicted by bouts of idiocy. I enjoy art, film and theatre. I can cook some tasty basics...
PHILOSOPHY
This song: 'If you only knew' - Jurassic 5 :)
Be nice to people but speak your mind.
Say you know nothing and learn everything.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My housemates and I were hosts to multiple couchsurfers in Cape Town as one of us had a membership online. I was foolish not to join in my own capacity then but I gladly took surfers around town and helped them with whatever missions they had during their stay... as well as just hanging out and having fun with them!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Above, basically I've been a joint-host and hope that I get to surf a few new couches soon!
We've had people from Germany, Israel, the States, Sweden... They were all quirky and fun in their own ways. It was particularly interesting for me to meet our Israeli surfer - as I have Palestinian heritage. We didn't quite save the world or anything but it was certainly intruiging to hear about his experience and perspectives.
Interests
Music - I like to think that my tastes vary wildly. Right now I'm listening to J Dilla, this morning it was Miles Davis and I listened to The Knife and assorted EDM acts over the afternoon.
I'm a singer (gone through a few bands) and love (though am not great at) playing the drums. I'm currently writing music using Ableton (which is a new medium for me).
Film - I studied it. I'm excellent at pub-based analysis.
I run, cycle, swim, gym, play basketball, surf (though I'm a beginner: I love it), and hike whenever possible.
I'm currently reading about 4 books. Hopefully I'll finish one of them by the time we meet!

Music, Movies, and Books
Books - currently reading:
'For Whom the Bell Tolls' Hemingway
'The Oxford Book of Japanese Short Stories' (complied by) Goosen
'Hegemony or Survival' Chomsky
'Sharon and my Mother-in-Law' Amiry
Music - As above... loads. Playlist just moved onto The Bug. I'm a bit of a rock n roller though. The Sonics and BORIS are the best garage bands ever. Led Zep, Cream, MayBlitz, Can, Pink Floyd = my teenage years. Bit of metal never hurt anyone: Slayer, Metallica (first three albums though). I am currently OBSESSED with 'The Seer' - Swans. I like a lot of stoner rock re: Electric Wizard, Witch, The Sword... and pscyh (old and new) like Tame Impala, Jefferson Airplane, Black Angels, Dead Meadow... I recently went through a big hip-hop thing (that won't ever stop i imagine). Mainly old school: Tribe Called Quest, Del the Funky Homosapien, Gravediggaz, Wu-Tang Clan (of course). Yeh, there's always more...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was 10 I went snorkeling with my Dad and we watched a giant spotted Eagle Ray gliding above the corral reef near Belize. It was like a beautiful alien moving so smoothly beneath the dappling sunlight.
Magic.
