Let me start off by saying from what I understand.

Couchsurfing is NOT A FREE tour guide or a FREE hotel. I've enough foreign friends here with out the use of this site and I'm not trying to sound difficult but I feel some users without much knowledge of the history and the culture of couchsurfing join regardless..

I am pretty much aware I do most of my activities in Japan , to meet and hangout and chat with some wonderful folks. and if luck has it that I can use couchsurfing other than my current city.

But I value the respect, consideration and appreciation that surfers give me that I live in Tokyo, an recessive country as of late and I'm not here on a vacation like you are and that I've got errands to do and would appreciate if people too value anyone's time, energy , experiences and efforts they make for one another in any encounter. Wherever it is you've met them. whether that be mine or yours.

If there's some loose plans in place,
I can make time and a place , for a meeting I will make the effort and hope you will as well

If our schedules , locations and times and situations match, great ( exceptions will be made for old friends, possible new great friends and etc )

This being said.
I prefer to meet in person and connect before truly giving my 2 cents or opinions, recommendations and what not so hope you understand..

** I'm here to connect with people who I might vibe with and treat me like an actual human first and foremost. . Do that first. If you ask me questions of cheapest. Best. Blah blah without out really knowing me .. or having read anything about me, I can make other plans to do so no worries 🙂
As knowledgeable as I am I try not too be a one stop information center..
However if we hit it off , you'll know. Ill be like that grandmother who asks if you ate, howve you've been , and if you have a hole in your shirt , offer to sew it .

I'm not a hypocrite so I'd treat others the way I'd like to be treated so I hold the same principals to myself as well and would respect , and make any time with any human whose willing to hangout with me or the group , good memories and stuff. .

Soo. if you aren't really interested in the culture or the people or that specific person's character or etc. Or just. hanging out
and only interested in doing the mega touristy things or a speed run. ...not sure if we'll click unless you're really awesome.... So. Just a forewarning..

And it may seem childish that I have to write these things to remind people or it may come off as calculated , cold and or heartless and I do apologize if it does.
However I feel there are times I have to constantly remind new users and young'ens of *** proper human etiquette. **

Being a third culture kid,
i have both an English name and Japanese one . A name is a name and I'd appreciate it if youdon't base much off of it。

I live in Tokyo at the moment , lived in other parts of Japan but always up for learning and seeing more. Again I've seen alot , been through alot as we all have. , but I want to learn about more I guess. My upbringing was in the northern hemisphere of the continental Americas.

I'm not necessarily a solo traveler Soo I joined cs a long time ago with a different surfer. That surfer is long gone and our data deleted unfortunately.

Also Despite myself being an anatomical asian male ; I don't care if you are a guy, gal ,, lgtbqi,
old , young a group of people or just one person ,
from where ever on earth ,outer space or a block away you are from.

I say this because I've met couchsurfers who only host/speak / show around people from only certain countries /speak a specific language or because they are a guy or gal ..
Etc.

It's dissapointing , I don't prefer spending my time that way or with such people with such prejudices .
And don't think that's what coucsurfing is about ..

To add on that note :
Couchsurfing is NOT a dating site for your one night stands with backpackers.

please use tinder or whatever else for that & protection.

I'm not saying don't hit it off with men or women , im saying there is a time and place ,people ..

It's also not a free , cheap option to a hostel..
Nor a free tour guide.
It's our daily life here and it'd be nice if some respect and some courtesy is given.

.Respect people and what they are about . Don't abuse or manipulate them for your trip.

if we both have a similar itinerary i will take some effort to meet and greet you. .talk and etc

---- my take on cs in jpn
I will more or less treat everyone as equals . ( Although, I've sadly experienced, Not all will do so on this site- As some want only to talk to women /men / or travelers from certain countries . I was tempted to write negative reviews on them and such users but I know there will just be bad blood in the community and the admin will do nothing but to advise minimal contact but I hope the same will not happen to you.)

I am slightly disappointed at some newer local couchsurfers who I just can't really get a read on , or understand. I think because partly they seem very racist, flakey., and a bit particular. I ponder sometimes if negative reviews are warranted but I know it may not affect anything

I will also make my best effort to find or meet you if we agree to do so; and i will earnestly make my best effort to do what was agreed upon .but I know life is open to change so I will not 100% hold everyone to what they say. We change. Ce la vie and I know some people here are traveling freely on your own accord and that's fine althoooough I feel it's important to be mindful if your actions and promises and meetings may affect others,locals /travelers or etc and their time and plans .

That being said,
I try to be flexible and tend to enjoy meeting people and even just hearing their stories and up for learning new things..

The older I get the more I feel I dont know anything (Jon Snow)...ugh very upsetting finale. Hahahah

I used to host and show ppl around with another cs veteran for nearly ten years, with over 100 positive references via hosting and personals, ( before there was any seperation there of)
before couchsurfing became a for profit company however he quit or was forced out . . ..(quite sad)
And I don't know what happened to etc so I'm starting from scratch..

-- why I'm still here despite how negative I sound ( yes I usually reread what I write )

My japanese isnt perfect but im ok I think And im in couch surfing because a long time ago , I was much more optimistic and happy and Thought I could still be of some help to people
( Part of that me is probably still inside )

One thing I will say is that. I live here.
I'm not dying to go meet you waaaay out of my way to go see you, especially when we haven't met yet or it doesn't seem like we have anything in common.

it's your trip and you enjoy that but I live in this city through out the year.

If you want to hangout with a local ,an anthropologist , a weird hermit in this city, and our schedules meet and you want to chat and Hangout and stuff , You're more than welcome to find me
If you wanna buy me a beer or have a gift from your country for coming out to meet you, sure why not , I'll be more encouraged and enticed (were all human) .
