About Me
Hi there! This is Yuting. I just finished my phd in agriculture in Denmark, so decided to take a break and travel a bit.
An easygoing and cheerful girl, talks like a chirpy monkey and laughs like a hiccuping goose (update: someone says it sounds like a seagull!). I don't mind awkward small talks but prefer good conversations. Let's share stories and strong opinions! Or just be spontaneous :D
Also if you like long walks or bouldering or visiting museums or just like sharing some weird ideas, hit me up! If you are also a fan of Pieter Bruegel the elder, we are friends already ;)
A good listener and an ok cook, would like to help cleaning dishes and rooms
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Bored of being a typical tourist, eager to know locals and learn more about the place I'm visiting, that's the spirit of traveling I guess. Besides, all the hosts I’ve stayed with are so nice. I learned a lot from them. I really enjoy it and I hope I’ll keep enjoying the experience :) ~Also most of time I travel solo, it'd be really lovely to know some people on my way:)
I’d love to host in the future when I no longer live in a small studio where the kitchen is in the bedroom :D This day will come I believe, the day I can share my apartment with interesting people from all over the world as a real grown-up!
Interests
I like hiking! I just did a 60km trek in Mount Wutai and I was stuck in the middle because of a snow storm, which actually sounds cool when I think about it now (in my warm warm room) (edit: this was written about 3 years ago, now I still like hiking, and climbing !!!) (edit: 180km trek from Chamonix to Zermatt is absolutely wonderful)
And crotchet
And medieval art, particularly Flemish art
And visiting graveyards in a city, in quite a few cities I’ve visited, the graveyard is one of most beautiful places in that city
And pole dance/aerial sport, get your mind out of the gutter if you only associate pole dance with strippers ;p it’s a great sport

Music, Movies, and Books
How to with John Wilson, Ida, Encounters at the End of the World
Too loud a solitude, Hannah Arendt, Philip Larkin, and a bunch of Japanese authors who killed themselves (Well, call no man happy until he is dead). There’s a lot but well I’ll leave it for now. We can definitely talk more in person :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was lost in a hiking region near Vladivostok and slept in the woods alone until Russian police found me. There are 2 truths and 1 lie in the statement. Tell me what you think.
Oh wait, amazing thing... actually in the past five years I've been writing with my Aussie penpal (who I've never met irl)...It's AMAZING when I think of it - kinda old fashioned but lovely!
Ooh! And I tried skinny dipping in the sea at night in January! It was so cool! I mean cold…
Aaand I did an 11 day hike from Chamonix to Zermatt with a couchsurfing host who hosted me in his tent. It’s absolutely amazing
Aand! I did hiking in Rwenzori mountains, don’t know where it is? Doesn’t matter, just add it to your bucket list, you won’t regret ;) (it’s in Uganda)
Teach, Learn, Share
Let's share anything that pops up to our mind
