About Me

Hello there stranger👋
My name is Yuval, and I'm a 22 yo film student from Jerusalem🙃
As winter break grew closer, I decided to book a flight to Lithuania, planning to spend here week or so- as I have never got the chance to experience eastern Europe. I'm also contemplating about doing some hitchhiking, with hopes not to freeze to death😅
I have used couchsurfing before during my travels across the globe; mainly in continental US - which has been incredible and helped me gain lots of insight about each town i was in and build some great friendships with many unique people along the way. I can definitely say that couchsurfing has given me the opportunity to truly understand the environment that I'm in, way beyond surface level- and that's my ultimate goal🙃

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well... First and foremost- I like meeting different people from all around the globe😊
When I visit a new place, I am eager to learn about culture, politics, art etc... The way I see it (and many others as well, I'm sure), CS provides a way to immerse yourself, being in touch with your surroundings, and maybe feel less of a stranger; less of a tourist- although I am aware that it's impossible to shake off. Since I am open minded, I think CS contributes me and others in the sense that it enables you to establish connections with all sorts of people and understanding their different ways of life. It helps me to share+gain insight, and have a truly meaningful experience which is embodied in the relationships we create.
I also love the unpredictability aspect of couchsurfing, and the fact that every encounter is completely different, as the people you meet are extremely diverse. I just don't want it to be all the same- and fortunately, it never is😌

Interests

-I watch a lot of films/tv shows- to the point where i can't find good ones to watch anymore😢 It is one of the things I am most passionate about 🫠
-In addition, I'm a master of urban cycling (that's a title i dedicate to myself) which is pretty challenging in the hilly city of Jerusalem

Music, Movies, and Books

Catch 22 is probably my favourite book
Trainspotting is probably my favourite movie
Eels is probably my favourite band
And The wire is my favourite tv show

Anyway I do listen to lots of music (mostly modern hip hop), and watch tons of films🎬

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On my trip to the US last winter, I've drove through the kaibab forest in Arizona during nighttime, and decided to stop for a viewpoint. As the moon was full and the forest covered in snow that reflected it's light, something about it seemed surreal. There was no one else with me to share that view, and when I tried to take a picture of it I got a blank (my outdated phone 😑)
I guess some divine entity stopped me from documenting what I've seen, proving that it's there. Nonetheless, It is stuck in my memory.
