About Me
Born and raised in China, I've been living in Singapore for the past decade. A global citizen, passionate for technology and business.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My first experience with CS began when I was still in university in 2011. I studied in Scotland, Glasgow for one semester as an international exchange student. Being the first time in Europe, I was very excited and eager to explore Europe and used CS as a platform to meet local people whenever I could. It turned out to be a amazing experience and ever since then, I adopted a new way of travelling.
Even after graduating, and having started working for some years now, I would say CS is still my preferred way of travelling. The idea of staying with a local might sound uncomfortable for some at first but is simply the very best way to experience the culture and livelihood of the country you are traveling to. Unlike other paid platforms that I experienced, CS is better in terms of culture exchange because it's a free platform, and that allows you and your host/guest to focus more on building human connection by spending more personal time together rather than just earning some quick bucks by providing a accommodation to someone who needs it. Though normally I will bring a little present to my host from my previous journey, or will offer to cook a Chinese meal for my host as a token of appreciation, it's really not about the money, isn't it? Compared to staying in a 5-star hotel, I prefer to live with a local, to see what he/she eats, listen to what he/she concerns and of course share my part of the world.
I'm very grateful that I can say all of my CS experience so far have been fantastic, thanks to all the amazing people I met along my journey. With some of them I even built lasting friendship that we are still in touch on a regular basis.
