About Me

CURRENT MISSION

The world is your oyster

ABOUT ME

I make a mean Tequila Sunrise, wear big earrings whatever the occasion and dream of dominating the bakery world with my own cake business.
I love to laugh and be around other people, and am always looking for new adventures.

PHILOSOPHY

Always stay true to yourself, keep an open mind. That sorta thing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Not had much experience yet, but am still very grateful to the guy who took me in at the last second, when I ended up with 10 euros to last me 3 days in Paris.

Music, Movies, and Books

Jules et Jim, Un Bout de Souffle, any of Almodovar's films, Defiance, Chocolat, La Historia Real, Radio, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Howl's Moving Castle

One Day, Un Sac de Billes, The Angel's Game, El Principe de la Niebla, Shakespearean things, Trainspotting, absolutely love love love Stoppard's Arcadia, Waiting for Godot, Como Agua Para Chocolate, anything by Isabel Allende, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Catcher in the Rye, What we talk about when we talk about love, Bodas de Sangre, Dannie Abse's poetry, The Glassblower of Murano (trashy, I know), Daphne DuMaurier's Frenchman's Creek. I'll also happily read cookbooks for a whole day.

As for music, I'll give anything a listen at least once. But here are some particular favourites: Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Them Crooked Vultures, Queens of the Stone Age (basically any band Dave Grohl has ever been involved with) Silverchair, Jamie Woon, Elbow, Franz Ferdinand, Fuck Buttons, The Gaslight Anthem, Jeff Buckley, Led Zeppelin, Muse, Radiohead, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Royksopp.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ok, I know it says put 'one amazing thing' down, but it's impossible to choose from:
Sailing through the Three Gorges, hiking through the Sierra Maestra to the Castro brothers' camp, interrailing round Eastern Europe last summer. So many beautiful places to go and things to see.

Teach, Learn, Share

I suppose I'd be good at teaching people about food-related things. It forms a huge part of my life as I'm always dreaming up new food combos and ideas. Language and some history bits and pieces too.
Sharing stories, learning from others' experiences.
