About Me

ABOUT ME

Pretty easy going guy who's very common sense oriented. I have a pretty good sense of humor, which I have to, as I interact with people all day long. I'm single and 32 (straight) and like to go out and have a good time. I am a social drinker and enjoy drinking dark microbrews when I have a few at home. I don't smoke, I can't stand it really, so being in a smoke heavy environment is usually a no go for me (bars the lone exception). Don't do drugs either though I have plenty of friends that smoke weed. I don't mind being around it as long as I'm not completely infumigated.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I signed up a couple of years ago, but haven't had the opportunity to experience yet. Basically I love to travel when I have the chance and think the idea of couchsurfing is fantastic. It can be a way to meet new people, see new places, and save a little money while doing so. IMO people lose out with hotels as the traveling experienced is enhanced when staying with REAL people in REAL homes. Unfortunately I'm not in the best situation to host with a roommate running his small business out of the house (for now) but I'd love to be able to host when that changes in the future.

Interests

I like to listen to music, particularly contemporary alt/indie and 80s new wave (though I can dig most anything but country and rap). I go to a lot of concerts so if I shoot you a request it may be because I am in town to see a show. Being from Iowa I am also a big Chicago sports fan (Hawks, Bears, Cubs and to a lesser extent the Bulls) and hope this is the year my Cubs end the futility. I also love to travel, meet new people, and explore our awesome planet.

Music, Movies, and Books

Like I said...big indie/alt and new wave fan. Some favorite artists include Tame Impala, Twin Shadow, Two Door Cinema Club, Tune-Yards, The Cure, Mellencamp, Depeche Mode, Roosevelt (debut album is killer), St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Saint Motel, and many more. As for movies I like a lot of foreign films...I guess because I am more plot driven and think euro films tend to be more plot centric, but I like movies that are well done, not senseless action flicks (Battleship! :)).

Not a big reader, though when I do I prefer non-fiction as reading feels like a waste of time if I'm not learning. It's just never really been my thing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Eh...I guess I don't have that mind blowing moment that would wow most people so I won't even try.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm big into assimilation as I feel many of life's "answers" can be found in the people we meet and interact with. Although I understand the concept of religion, it's just never really made sense to me (though it's cool if it works for others I'm just not...nor don't like...the preaching types). In the end I think this world is what we, as a collective whole, can make of it and if people spent less time praying and more time doing the world can be a better place. Throughout history I think this has been proven many times over.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd like to think I have a sense of humor and prefer to have a good laugh when possible. I'm also a talker by nature so conversation is also a natural strength. Moreover I just a genuine guy that's honest and forthright and think that trait is usually appreciated. Any life experience, advice, or perspective is always up for sharing.
