Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Zach and I live in my beautiful home state of California. I'm originally from LA but have been living in San Francisco for three years. I work for a nonprofit organization in Oakland that runs 12 public schools in the Bay Area . I studied abroad in Seville, Spain which is how I did most of my European travels. Part of my family is from Uruguay so I've been there many times and love Montevideo. I speak Spanish and have been learning it almost all of my life. I love to travel in Central and South America since is it (relatively) close. When I think of an ideal vacation, it's not lying on a beach with a margarita (though there's definitely a time and a place for that), it's going to the little corner stores, talking to people, wandering and getting lost, and being taken to spots where I can be a part of a new culture, not surrounded by people from my own. I have a small but comfy couch that is sometimes available for fellow travelers coming through Northern California to see the beauty that surrounds us here. And I hope to be coming to a couch near you soon! Peace, love, unity, and respect!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm here to meet cool people as I travel across the globe over the next few years and sometimes crash on couches. And if I can host some friendly travelers and show them the coolest parts of living in San Francisco, then I'd be the happiest guy on earth!
Interests
- electronic music
Music, Movies, and Books
I love electronic music! House is one of the great passions of my life. I go to shows and clubs all the time around the city, and am an especially big supporter of the local music label Dirtybird!
I'm currently reading Open Veins of Latin America but mostly enjoy fiction like East of Eden and The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay.
I'm from LA so movies are one of my favorite artistic mediums! I love serious films like There Will Be Blood and Inception to silly comedies like The Big Lebowski and Bruce Almighty. A recent film I really liked was Everybody Wants Some, the follow up to Dazed and Confused by Richard Linklater.
