About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Hitchhiking Japan for the month of March, 2013

ABOUT ME

I hosted a few surfers last summer for fun and karma, and now I'm bumming around Japan for a month before I start a semester abroad at Sophia University in Tokyo.

PHILOSOPHY

“Walk tall, kick ass, learn to speak Arabic, love music and never forget you come from a long line of truth seekers, lovers and warriors.”
Hunter Thompson

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted some wonderful people last summer in Chicago. Now, I'm looking for hosts myself

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted five people so far and it's been a great experience. I often describe CouchSurfing as "a service where you can order interesting people over the internet."

Interests

I try to keep as many interests as I can, and I'm always down to learn something new. For fun, I like going out with interesting people for some booze and revelry. For work, I'm trying to become a journalist. For money, I'm currently a janitor at a homeless shelter.

Music, Movies, and Books

Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon
On The Road by Jack Kerouac
Remember Be Here Now by Baba Ram Dass
The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, Willie Nelson, and the blues
And good-God-damn do I love movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Doing missionary work in Mexico has been one of the defining moments of my life so far. Sleeping out under the stars, building a church and getting to know lots of awesome locals. Not to mention the amazing food.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a surfer, the thing I want most out of a host is a local perspective on their area.
I'm always up for a language lesson, and learning about other people's lives and experiences. Arguing about politics and religion at the dinner table is something I've always enjoyed.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
