About Me

My name is Zach Settje. I enjoy all things travel and culture-related. I grew up in an agricultural background in the middle of the United States, and carry those experiences with me everywhere I go. My hometown has 180 people in it. Currently, I've traveled to 15+ different countries around the world including China, Russia, Argentina, and various European countries.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've tried hotels and hostels when staying in other countries and cities, and it just doesn't make the cut for me. I enjoy learning about culture and having an inside-view of the country that I am in- something only a local can provide in any location. I want to meet people and experience their culture and way of life firsthand. As a solo traveler, I sometimes find hostels to be too solitary and for that reason, I chose to join Couchsurfing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Really, I enjoy all types of music. If I am in an opera house in Vienna, I enjoy opera music. If I am in Mexico, I enjoy Spanish music. To be honest, I am an open book when it comes to music. I enjoy movies, but don't really have a favorite.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Drove a Jeep Wrangler across the continental divide of the United States Rocky Mountains.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a completely different culture of America than you are probably familiar with. I do not come from a big city or suburb. I grew up in rural America, where farmers are the majority of the population and we live on large pieces of land in the countryside. It's a totally different style of living than most people think of when they talk about the U.S.
