About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Perspective

ABOUT ME

I love running, biking, windsurfing, scuba diving, hiking, pretty much anything outside. I just graduated from college where I studied biology, and I love learning about new things and places, and meeting interesting people. I just spent a few months traveling the world and saw some cool stuff and met some great people. I want to show people where I live and try to help them enjoy whatever time they spend in my country, or state, or town. I love to hang out, drink beer and wine and am very 420 friendly (no pressure of course!). If you stay with me I will do my utmost to make you feel at home just as I would hope anyone hosting me would do the same!

PHILOSOPHY

Always be nice to people, just in case they deserve it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just finished a two month sojourn in Israel, Europe, the UK and Iceland and couchsurfed most of the way. It was a great way to meet local people and save money while doing it. Im really excited to start doing some hosting, and I hope some of the friends Ive made along the way will come and stay with me!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only hosted once (which was a very positive experience) but I have now surfed with about 15 different people. I am extremely impressed with how well the CS system works, and how many great people have made themselves a part of it. I traveled for about two months in seven different countries and in each one met people through CS that I immediately felt personal connections with. It was really the highlight of traveling to have someone invite you into their home and their culture and genuinely want to show you how they live, and make you feel at home when you visited. I cannot stress enough how awesome it was to be a part of Couchsurfing while traveling, and I am really excited to start hosting and passing the good vibes on!

Teach, Learn, Share

Like I said in my experience section, I have had an amazing time using CS while traveling. I honestly first signed up for it because I was on a tight budget, and thought it would help save money to stay with people rather than in hotels or hostels. After using it though, Ive become convinced that its the future of traveling. I met people who gave up their beds for me, cooked me gourmet meals, showed me their countries and customs, and did everything in their power to make sure I felt at home. I cant describe how wonderful a feeling it is to be treated with such courtesy and generosity by complete strangers, nor the amount of gratitude I feel towards everyone who has shown me hospitality. Not only that, but by staying with local people, you get to see the authentic side of wherever your traveling, not just the same tourist attractions that people normally travel to see. And my favorite part is that all this comes without $$$ all over it. It makes the whole process feel refreshingly authentic in a world where traveling anywhere has a hefty price tag.

Also, I found out while traveling using CS that it made a difference to see who actually reads your profile before they send you a couchrequest! Its definitely a nice gesture when someone makes an obvious effort to find out if your going to get along versus someone who just wants a free bed (nothing wrong with that, but still...). Therefore if you've read up to this point and still wanna surf with me, mention something about zombies in your message, and I'll know you were paying attention!
