About Me
Traveling is an addiction I can't get enough time for these days, especially with work and a couple volunteer projects. Things change rapidly these days, but I do my best to share the interesting updates on my Facebook: facebook.com/zach.mueller
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
While I still do travel a few times a year, I feel it's time for me to pay it forward for all the hospitable people I've met around the world and host other Couchsurfers now that I have an apartment in a great city
Interests
My interests span many areas. In my productive life, I work in finance while I'm teaching myself the skills necessary to move into data science while I volunteer on the side teaching business students SQL at my grad school and assisting a local biology lab in any capacity necessary to expose myself to synthetic biology. When I'm not working on one of those projects, I do my best to hike up mountains, climb at a local bouldering gym, spend time with close friends, take things apart, put them back together, build new things, read a long book, learn something new, and - when I can muster up a week+ off from work - travel somewhere around the world.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music - most of my music listening takes place while I work and I am easily distracted by wanting to sing along to lyrics so I mostly listen to instrumental-only, either classical or more modern (lately I've been playing Zoe Keating on repeat); back when I had a driving commute to work, I would tend towards various forms of Rock though listen to a wide variety (anything from Pink Floyd to Sublime to Owl City to Lorde)
Movies - don't watch too many movies these days
Books - prefer non-fiction with a scientific bent though I also include broader topics when good books catch my eye. Recently finished [Faraday, Maxwell, and the Electromagnetic Field, The Wealth and Poverty of Nations, Into Thin Air, Steve Jobs (biography by Isaacson)]; Queued up next [Deep Simplicity, Thinking Fast and Slow, Debt: the First 5,000 Years]
