Hello friends！ I grew up in Chicago, Illinois. I went to the University of Illinois in Chicago where I graduated with a Bachelors of Neuroscience. Now I live in Guilin, Guangxi teaching english :)

So... In Guilin, I've got a studio apartment downtown. My apartment does not have a couch right now, but I have space on my floor. And a kitchen, which is pretty nice. So if you want to stay here, just make sure you have like a sleeping bag or something soft. Im working on it >.> March 10 UPDATE I still do not have a couch lol

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hanging out with CSers is fun. Guilin is a great place to visit, and really close to other places that are even better. If you want to hang out and stuff that awesome, but if you just need a cheap place to stay, that's cool too. I've been there. Just let me know in your message your expectations and we can work something out. At the very least, you can let me know if your passing through and i can give you some advice, or we can grab a beer or something.

Interests

So right now, I'm really just trying to explore Guilin; I haven't been here long. But I mean I read a lot, watch a lot of movies, and eat a lot of food. I will update this with more details when I'm not so lazy. I promise. Signed, Zach 09/15/2015

March 10 UPDATE: I also like cooking. If you can give me a recipe, we can try to cook something together because I love learning new dishes. Also, I'm trying to get better at portraiture, so if you know anything about sketching, inking, or drawing portraits, let me know DUDE. Or programming.

Music, Movies, and Books

My dad would read me the Hobbit as a kid, before I could read. Still one of my favorite books. The only thing I like more than reading is adding new books to my already lengthy list of 'Books to Read". As a kid I was all about Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Series of Unfortunate Events, stuff like that. I read a lot of nonfiction when I was young too.

In high school, I got really into film. Like, I would rent and watch a new movie every night after school. Movies like Alien, Fight Club, Blade Runner, The Professional, Drive, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop... I can really go on. My favorite film is Princess Mononoke.

In high school I got really into videogames too. Halo, and World of Warcraft, and some smaller gems that really stood out.

University I studied a lot.

Now I read a lot again, and still love watching movies. The new Mad Max was really killer. I couldnt believe The Force Awakens was so satisfying, considering how high the bar was, but there you go.
