CURRENT MISSION
to think under the box
ABOUT ME
i'm extremely open-minded and curious and a big dreamer. people tell me i'm a non-conformist but i don't really understand who decided on the rules people live by anyway and why mine aren't as valid as the next person's. i write when i can make myself stay home (which is hard in the summer in barcelona), and my life consists of time spent with the characters in books and the strange and wonderful people i meet whenever i step out of my house. i like to go out alone a lot, which my friends find very strange, because it's the only way to meet new people, but of course there's nothing like family or good friends to give you a sense of who you are and where you belong. currently i live in barcelona and after having lived in a lot of different places i can easily say barcelona is the best place on earth to live. at least for me :) i love the cinema, drinking, walking through the streets of a city, biking, reading, talking to strangers in cafes and of course, travelling. my biggest fear is to become someone who thinks they have all the answers. honestly i get along really well with people who are 17, 30, 55 or 5 - everyone has something to teach and to me the best way to be a teacher, which i am, is to always learn.
PHILOSOPHY
make the most of it - it only comes once
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
i love the idea of couchsurfing because i think people are so afraid of other people, and i don't really understand why. i was hosting for a while, until my flatmate decided he didn't trust strangers in the house and so i'm really disappointed i can't offer my house to others, but it's important to respect the person you live with so until i move to another place that's the way it has to be. in the meantime, i love meeting cs-ers for a drink or coffee, and being able to show them "my" of barcelona. after all, that's the best thing of cs, seeing a place not through a guidebook but through the eyes of the locals.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
haven't travelled much since i joined cs, but couchsurfing in pais vasco was unforgettable, since the situation there is so politically delicate, and i had a lot of questions about what people really think and feel, which i wouldn't have been able to ask just anyone i meet on the street. cs gave me the opportunity to go beneath the surface and i had a host that was more than gracious about sharing his life and views with me.
