About Me

Hey guys, I'm Zahlya. I've been away from my Aussie homeland for almost a year this time round, living in Thailand, Bali, Berlin and around Europe, now off to the US for a bit so I can keep the travel dream alive and maybe start a festival food van next summer in Germany (would be so much fun!). I was teaching senior high school English for a couple years, sweating it out each day, doing my best to inspire the kiddies, until I decided to call it quits for a bit and reunite with my tropical island communities and the sweaty swirling freedom of Asia, and the life-loving 'conscious' communities of Koh Phangan and Ubud. I've hoisted arse over the himalayas in Nepal and haggled my way around India, marvelled at the computer game-like Tokyo and cooked on fjord-side fires in Norway. I like yoga, and cooking delicious feasts, writing, reading, thinking, walking, dancing, all things musical, long, engrossing conversations with the awesome friends I meet along the way. I love to feel the wind in my hair, to dig in the garden, to talk about tantra, cook with friends, feel the embrace of the ocean, ponder the great grand narrative and also to keep it real. I've fed over 200 people in one go, survived four years at uni and having five classes of teenagers each day. Life has taught me to question stuff and try to be open and reflect on things and be kind to people and to be the change you wanna see. I was raised vegetarian by Hare Krishna australians and spent about two years living in a tent, bus or tipi at rainbow festivals as a kid. I care about people and the animals and the planet and dream of a non-violent world where all can live peacefully. And that's about it! Ha.
