About Me

I'm a most-of-the-time student and a full-time dreamer, a passionate baker and a wandering soul. At the moment I'm dividing my time between art history studies and work - and travelling, whenever time and budget allows. I believe in stories, ambition and intuition, value unpretentious and delicious food, and intend to stay young and greedy and foolish for a very long time to come.

After living a year in Czech Republic and travelling around Europe by practically every possible vehicle, my desire to see and experience the world has only grown stronger. I have a thing for backpacking and traveling on my own, meeting people to share stories (and cooking recipes!) with. My favourite spot is on the road, on the way from place A and place B.

Confession: Sometimes I sleep in my sleeping bag, even in my own bed. Maybe I was too lazy to put on clean sheets, or I got cold in the night, but most often, I was just longing for the travel feel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Four years after starting as a CouchSurfer in the lovely Edinburgh, I really, really can't imagine how life would have been without. This community has taught me a lot about the world, but even more about myself. I've been forced to question and overcome many of my own fears and expectations, and I'm proud to feel it has made me wiser.

All those people I've met, stories I've heard. All those random places and situations I've ended up to, enjoying every minute of it. And that incredible atmosphere of hospitality and sharing, which is the most magical thing about this community. Why people stay in hostels? I never really understood it.

Interests

Tea drinking, late nights talking, movies, mythologies, ginger beer, jazz clubs, libraries, photography, cooking, nature walks, cafés, ballet, postcards, live drawing classes... the list is endless.

When I'm unhappy, watching trains always makes me feel better. Sometimes I do the most impulsive stuff, and sometimes I'm that semi-introverted girl who likes to sit in the corner table of a café, read books and not talk to anyone. But give me some red wine and I'm ready for an all-night swing party.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Live jazz is my favourite. I also love listening to people playing practically any instrument, especially an acoustic guitar. When it comes to recordings I enjoy Philip Glass, jazz classics and 60's rock, but don't say no to modern music either!

Movies: everything by Almodovar, everything by Kieslowski and recently also everything by Wes Anderson. Oh, and absolutely everything adapted after Agatha Christie on this planet. I'm a MAJOR Poirot & Miss Marple fan.
Also: A Love Song For Bobby Long, Never Let Me Go, The Hours, Daisies.

Writers: Sarah Waters, Tove Jansson, Jeffrey Eugenides, Dylan Thomas, Virginia Woolf, Jeanette Winterson, Roald Dahl, J.K. Rowling, Emily Brontë, Marjane Satrapi

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Milking cows in Ireland, Making breakfast for one thousand people and Skipping in the dark night of Edinburgh!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make Scandinavian style cinnamon rolls, among other vital life surviving skills.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My (darkish) sense of humour, my stories from the road, and two ears eager to hear yours! I enjoy comfy evenings staying in and cooking or baking together, maybe watching a movie or just chatting away over a cup of tea. I never wish my hosts to complicate their lives and stress about having me around - You don't have to come up with anything fancy to do, and if you are busy, I'll be my own company and use the time reading (possibly spying your own library, if I have your permission!).

Countries I’ve Visited

Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom
