Overview
About Me
German/British, lived in Uganda for 6+ years and loving it :-)
One word of caution: You shouldn't be afraid of dogs as I have two and they will definitely want to be your friends and charge an obligatory stroke tax! ;-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have both couchsurfed and hosted in the past, but life (and Covid) got in the way a bit recently. Ready to revive old habits and meet new people though :)
Interests
I hike pretty much any mountain, hill and anthill I come across, and have been riding a motorbike for the past two years. I've been a vegetarian since childhood but my dogs will be grateful for any leftover bones, so there's no food restrictions in the house whatsoever!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Lost in Translation, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Into the Wild, 500 Days of Summer, Studio Ghibli, Ondskan.
Music: Yes, please.
Books: Big bookshelf full of African literature, political/historical non-fiction, and a wee bit of sci-fi thrown in for good measure :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiking the highest peak in the Rwenzoris (twice) and riding a motorbike through Kidepo National Park are definitely up there...
Teach, Learn, Share
I've worked on Nile River politics for the past 6 years, travelled Uganda and surrounding countries a fair bit and always enjoy discussing history and current affairs of the region over a late night beer. Or come along for a hiking weekend with me and my friends, if the timing is right!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Happy to cook (vegetarian) dinner, chip in with keeping the house clean, share travel stories and some beers :)
