I'm Žan, I come from a very small village in a very small country of Slovenia. At the moment I am back home for my summer vacation, but otherwise I live, study and work in Ljubljana. I've just graduated from The Academy Of Theatre, Radio, Film and Televison - Theatre Acting. I love seeing good plays, go to the cinema and go to exhibitions when possible. I'm 23 year old. An avid piano player and improviser. Also very much obsessed with alternative photographic processes - mostly wetplate collodion and alternative printing processes such as albumen and salt printing. I live for good conversations and amazing food.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is an awesome platform for meeting people, cultures and hidden treasures of each place I visit. There is nothing better than hearing stories from people I just met, the actor and artist in me loves stories and Couchsurfing offers just that. An opportunity to meet and discover.

Interests

I am a person of a thousand interests, I've been researching my family tree and have built up a tree of more than 20 000 people. I am deeply interested in history, especially personal history of my ancestors so I'm always the one asking the questions at family dinners. I love photography, I use antique wooden cameras in my work, film and other alt processes. I'd love to teach you some!
Also I love cooking so whenever I get a chance, I go for it!

Music, Movies, and Books

Lobster, Mustang, Synecdoche New York, Requiem For a Dream, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 12 Angry Men, Hiroshima mon amour, The Tree of Life, Europa(Lars von Trier),... So many amazing movies out there.

Music: when I'm alone, mostly classical music (Chopin, Shostakovich, Rachmaninov, Brahms) but also love other genres and bands like The XX, Catwoman, Portishead, Miles Davis...

As for books I love Nostalgia (Cărtărescu), Hemingway, Bellow, Proust, Cankar (a slovenian novelist and playwriter) and I also read a lot of poetry.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've slept in a self-made tent in the snow in -20*C when I tried climbing a mountain with a friend. That was hardcore for me, I never want to feel that cold again :)

I don't know really. I'm really thinking about it now. I've been doing the things that make me feel happy and in that aspect they are amazing to me. And that's what's important in the end. I think.
